I can't believe it's been almost 10 years since this show has been in syndication on cable. With these channels like Hallmark, INSP, GMC, etc. adding more older shows, not to mention the diginets like Me-TV and Antenna TV popping up, it seems like one of them would be interested in Gilligan's Island. I think it'd be a nice fit for Hallmark or INSP on cable or Me-TV on the diginets.

Just really surprising since it was a syndication mainstay until the early 2000s and is still one of the most popular 1960s sitcoms today.

Thoughts?

It's bound to come back soon, it just has to

I think it'd be a good fit on Hallmark with The Brady Bunch and Happy Days. Ditto for INSP.

I'm surprised G.I. isn't playing on ME-TV or Antenna already! It probably will eventually.

Doesn't Warner own the rights to GI? if so, there's your answer regarding at least broadcast syndication. A stupid policy.

I think Warner does own Gilligan.
On TheWB.com you can see 5 free episodes at any one time.
Right now it's from Season Two, Feed the Kitty though Allergy Time.
They change the episodes every few months but not according to any chronological pattern.

Warner has never made its library available to any of these diginets.

I'd think they would make their shows available to cable, though.

It would be cool if they made there own classic channel and aired Warner Archive movies too. I know I would watch it. WB has the rights to a lot of good shows/movies.

I have never seen the show in reruns. It has always been something I've seen on DVD. My parents love the show and I fell in love with it,too. I'm glad I have all 3 seasons.

It's insane that a show that is as iconic as GI isn't on TV constantly. It should be on par with Beverly Hillbillies

I'd love to see this on TV again. I'm surprised it isn't. Definitely a classic I would enjoy seeing.

When I got it on DVD I was pleased. My daughter has never seen it on TV but watches the discs over and over just like I did the syndicated reruns in the 70's.

That's why I have it on DVD, don't have to worry about it not being on TV.

watching TV, you are part of an audience... even if you're alone.

In the mean time, I can watch it whenever I want. Don't have to watch annoying commercials, or if it's on DVR fast forward through annoying commercials. The episodes are intact and not edited to make more room for commercials.

Yep, I'll stick with the DVDs.
