In regards to Mr. Drummond, if can clearly see he is still connected to his maude character and that Arnold is still connected to his character on Good Times and the Jeffersons.


Of course this fades away as the show moves on but it's understandable because there were not that far removed from those previous roles.

I liked the Philip Drummond character a lot better than Arthur on Maude, but sometimes I thought Mr. Drummond was occasionally TOO nice which is no way to be in business. I don't think he would have been a super successful business man in the real world.

As for Arnold, I thought he was really cute and very warm, kind hearted and loving to Mr. D. Willis is the one who had the rotten attitude in the beginning.

If the SLIGHTEST thing upset him, he was ready to run away, and he would guilt Arnold into running with him. Arnold never wanted to run away, but he also wanted to please Willis. Willis wasn't fair to Arnold.

I never really watched Maude until I started watching Antenna TV in the past few weeks, so I'm really unfamiliar with Conrad Bain's character on there. But watching the first episode of Diff'rent Strokes again last night, I think I noticed Mr. Drummond was wearing an ascot for the first time. That looks more like something his character on Maude would wear, from what I've seen of his wardrobe on there.

BTW: You can see by the 4th episode that the Arthur character is slowly disappearing.

Familiar starting landmark (Manhattan) that takes the viewer from the city to the suburbs. It happened with "Archie Bunker's Place" when the shot started in Manhattan and went into Queens via the Queensboro Bridge.
