View Full Version : I am done with The Hub
icecream 01-01-2013, 05:08 PM The Facts of Life Wednesday marathons are no more, it's been relegated to 2AM Friday nights. Add this to removing Mork & Mindy, The Wonder Years, Happy Days, Family Ties, Doogie Howser M.D., and Sabrina the Teenage Witch from primetime, this is a channel that went downhill way too fast.

It sure did, in the beginning of year the HUB was high on my list for TV viewing and not all of those shows are gone.
Damm, put the HUB in the same category as BoreMark:lol:

Pavan 01-01-2013, 10:17 PM I guess Solomon "Forgetful Jones" Davis forgot about Brady Bunch and Happy Days joining Hallmark tomorrow.
mets82 01-01-2013, 10:34 PM I was going to start a thread about The Hub. The Hub actually had Hercules Marathon on New Year's Eve. Seriously?? Hercules???
TVFactFan 01-01-2013, 10:46 PM I guess Solomon "Forgetful Jones" Davis forgot about Brady Bunch and Happy Days joining Hallmark tomorrow.
What time of the day will they be airing?
yankeesrj12 01-01-2013, 10:46 PM Isn't The Hub for children anyway?
icecream 01-01-2013, 10:49 PM Isn't The Hub for children anyway?Mostly children's programming, but it started out airing classic sitcoms from 8PM-12AM.
icecream 01-01-2013, 10:52 PM What time of the day will they be airing?Happy Days will be weekdays 2-4PM with the same episodes encoring 8-10PM. The Brady Bunch will be weekdays 6-8PM.

Well I can't remember everything lol
The Brady Bunch board will now be active
Pavan 01-02-2013, 12:53 AM You can't remember anything... I have seen countless examples.
The Hub never claimed to be or planned to be a classic TV network. I've thought (and probably said) all along that they used the older shows in primetime to appeal to/bait parents over to the channel that might like the "retro" shows they aired and notice the kids stuff and get their kids watching. Those parents could have kids in the target age for the channel. Never expected them to last, this is no surprise at all. They really didn't fit.
Happy Days and The Brady Bunch are also on INSP.

Yeah but I think it's on INSP in the afternoon, on Hallmark it will be between 6pm and 9pm
ThomasE 01-02-2013, 02:20 AM I feared opening up this thread because I figured that it had something to do with "The Facts Of Life". Dang! It still had three more seasons to go. Ironically, these last three seasons are the ones that were revamped and made over from head to toe. This sucks big time.

FOL didn't gain any viewers at 8pm to 10pm so now the HUB thinks the show will gain viewers at 2am early Saturday morning?
Regulus 01-02-2013, 08:54 PM HUB is owned by VIACOM, so what did you expect?
MikeLutton 01-02-2013, 10:03 PM what season is Fol on now miss this show love it schould of stayed where it was
ThomasE 01-02-2013, 10:04 PM Season six...its almost done.
mets82 01-02-2013, 10:05 PM I want to say Season 9(?). It was in 1985 when George Clooney was on the show and they opened "Over Our Heads."
MikeLutton 01-02-2013, 10:11 PM crap did richard moll episode air yet

Then you can watch it on Hallmark, it's on 6pm-8pm.
Viacom does not own The Hub. It's a 50/50 venture between Hasbro and Discovery Communications.

So many channels right now it's hard to keep up lol
MrCleveland 01-03-2013, 12:18 AM I saw that The HUB still plays some of those older sitcoms as well as "Animaniacs" (I don't have cable now nor I intend to again).

They air Batman The Animated Series, Superman The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, and Jackie Chan as well. These shows were all part of the late '90s/early '00s WB afternoon lineup. I don't watch this block, but it's great that this generation can discover these shows after school, just like I did over a decade ago.
The HUB's evening lineup is AWFUL.
James 01-03-2013, 02:26 PM HUB is owned by VIACOM, so what did you expect?
Actually, HUB is owned by Discovery. Also game maker Hasbro. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hub_%28TV_channel%29
CommonTater 01-03-2013, 11:47 PM I was so excited when they started airing some classic's but I agree, it went downhill fast. :(
PrettyinPink55 01-05-2013, 09:51 PM They pretty much gave The Facts of Life the death slot. :( I wouldn't be surprised if they gave up on it completely. :( So sad that they didn't even let it finish its run. The Hub stinks!!! It moved Family Ties to late night too, and I don't even know if they still show it!! The only classic show they air on a regular and consistent basis is ALF. I liked ALF, but I'm not crazy about it. It also got rid of The Wonder Years and moved all their other classic TV shows to late late late night. I know The Hub never claimed to be a classic TV network, but why add those shows in the first place if you were just going to move them to 2am?????

Not only do the sitcoms air late at night, most air ONLY on weekends.
The Wonder Years, Family Ties, The Facts of Life, Alf, Doogie Howser, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Batman, and Sabrina The Teenage Witch are basically all gone. Sliders and Hercules must be doing well!
TVFactFan 01-06-2013, 12:46 AM I wish some sitcoms came on saturday nights because it is NOTHING ON TONIGHT:lol:

There's ALWAYS something on TV at my house!  :rotflmao: :brent
On Saturdays I relive my childhood and watch my "Saturday Morning" DVDs including Underdog, Tennessee Tuxedo, Moby Dick/Mighty Mightor, SHAZAM!, The Secrets of ISIS, The Red Hand Gang and Korg, 70,000 BC. Good, Clean fun that they just don't make like they used to. :(
mets82 01-06-2013, 03:18 PM I dont get the appeal of the 2am slot. Im assuming its for west coast viewers but what about people who live in the east coast and midwest?

The problem is the Facts of Life is not really a 2am type of show which makes the slot kind of Odd.

I would be fine if The Facts of Life was on at 2:00am every night. But for The HUB to air the show for an hour once a week at 2:00am is ridiculous. It SUCKS!

I think they are just trying to burn through the episodes of the series and don't really care about viewers for FOL anymore. :( The Hub had such promise too!!! :(
TVFactFan 01-07-2013, 02:22 AM I called Comcast and asked them to remove the Hub from my service this afternoon when I woke up.

Does this lower the cable bill or did you just do it as an act of defiance?
I didn't know you could remove individual channels. I don't see the point though unless they lower the overall cable bill. I know you can remove packages, but I didn't think you could with individual channels. I feel you're paying for them, so you might as well have them, right?

If I were able to do this for every channel I didn't like, I'd be left with about 4 channels on my cable box.

Buffyboy323 01-08-2013, 01:18 AM Come on, you watch more than 4 channels LOL
I watch a bunch of channels, but there are probably only FOUR that I truly like.
One show here, one show there, doesn't make me like the network, just makes me enjoy the show or two. Networks that air a bunch of shows I like are the actual channels I enjoy.

Well, if all my shows came on the same network (or two!), I wouldn't have to hop around so much!! Back in the day, I'd be glued to Nick at Nite, or TBS, or my local WPIX for hours at a time. So many good shows were paired together.
Today? You have to LOOK AND LOOK for your favorite "old" shows. I will admit that cable channels have gotten better these last two or three years. TV Land and Nick at Nite have basically fallen off my radar. But with so many shows airing for the first time in years, I'll say cable has definitely improved.

It is kind of a hassle trying to remember which shows comes on what channel at what time since it's all so far spread out and we have more channels to choose from now. But I agree, cable has improved!!
Who needs TV Land or N@N anymore?! ;) Though I admit, I do watch Full House on N@N and The Cosby Show and I Love Lucy on TV Land.
Ryan Chamberlain 01-23-2013, 05:14 AM I couldn't remove my direct tv package that has the Hub. Cause, if I did SoapNet would go with it.
I watch old soaps at night now since I can no longer watch the sitcoms on the Hub.

I think SoapNet is almost completely gone. You're one of the lucky few that still have it.
I was looking for The Facts of Life on my guide. They've completely pulled it!
tvfan25 01-23-2013, 08:50 AM My cable is from Suddenlink and they have now switched to New Wave. We're going to be getting a lot more channels in the coming weeks. Soapnet is one of them. I also can't wait to get BET, Centric and GMC. I'll probably be watching those a lot. I used to watch the Hub when they had ALF, Family Ties, The Facts of Life and Sabrina from 8-10. I'm not getting up at 2 or 3 in the morning just to watch those! I no longer watch the Hub anymore. Maybe Animaniacs!
mets82 01-23-2013, 03:26 PM Btw, ALF has been airing on weeknights. Yes, they still air on Thursday with the ALF marathon but I saw ALF on the other day, I think, at 8:30pm and 10:30 pm. Did anybody else notice this?

Direct TV and Dish Network both still have SoapNet. :)

Centric
VH1 Classic

spunkygirl 02-17-2013, 11:23 PM It's clear the show didn't do well on the Hub, it's well known networks remove shows that don't do well. As a fan of Who's the Boss? a show that's been treated like crap, I know how it feels

I saw a commercial for this while watching ALF (the only reason I watch The Hub anymore). They're doing Episodes of FOL, FT, and L&S with Oscar nominated/winning actors and actresses to celebrate the upcoming Oscar awards.

They could have lost the rights to the show as well
Neutronman67 03-02-2013, 10:51 AM The Hub has jumped the shark after they took off The Wonder Years, i dont understand why do they keep playing the wonder years on a network and then randomly take it off the air its been on like 10 different network stations over the years its a good drama show it deserves better treatment.
tlc38tlc38 03-02-2013, 01:25 PM Go to http://www.hubworld.com/yourule to vote for which show you want to see on Thursdays.
tbswatcher 03-02-2013, 06:52 PM I became upset with the Hub when they moved Sabrina from 9:00pm weeknights to Tuesdays (or was it Thursdays) 8 to 10pm. I guess I shouldn't have complained then because The Hub eventually moved Sabrina to early Monday mornings from 3 to 4am. I've never seen a network go downhill so fast in my life.
mets82 03-02-2013, 09:30 PM I might get criticized here but I think there are way too many kids networks as it is. I mean if The Hub started there primetime lineup at 8pm with Happy Days or Facts of Life or ALF etc. and ran it until 11 or midnight, that would be good. I think The Hub can spare 3 or 4 hrs. a night when they constantly run kids programming all day.
MRPITT 03-21-2013, 12:25 AM Did they replace Facts if Life with Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader. That's terrible.
Tubehead 03-21-2013, 06:04 PM whos the boss? is coming in april
Neutronman67 03-21-2013, 07:18 PM Thank God Whose The Boss is getting a chance on the Hub its a decent show little corny but still a great show, it should bring up the ratings on that channel if people tune in to watch it, i watch WTB on TVGuide all the time.
