LOL

That's what that dumb A$$ girl says to Cliff and Clair after they took her dumb A$$ in and treated her like their own child. Even if you felt that way you don't tell them that after they let you live there. lol

I told everyone PAM was ghetto

Only a girl from the hood would say that

Yup because it seemed like they were expanding her role on the show and making her the star by introducing her friends at school

The show focused way too much time to that idiot Pam and her dopey friends. I just couldn't take watching the show anymore once Pam was front and center.

And that comment to Cliff and Claire was just awful. She should have kept it to herself.

"You people didn't look good to me" LOL

what the hell does that mean

I don't see how she could have felt that way about Cliff because he made her feel welcomed from the 1st time he met her

Yup, telling her to sit on the couch and not way in the corner. And that she is welcomed to anything in the house.

That's why I never liked the Pam character.

She had a chip on her shoulder. I never warmed up to the Pam character, so I gave up on the show all together.

Pam on the Cosby Show was like

"Vicky on Three's Company" lol

Maybe Pam would have been more at home if Cliff offered her a 40. The Cosby Show always seemed to be fighting stereotypes (racism and sexism)and then they bring in a character who is a big ball of whack. I don't getting it!

That wasn't ghetto, you need to look up the definitions of ghetto because obviously you don't know the meaning LOL. Cliff and Claire understood where she was coming from. I understood it.

I sorta, kinda agree. It seems like Pam and her friends were kind of judgmental in the beginning. Denise, Clair and Cliff were very warm to her and they weren't snobs. When Pam said "You all didn't look that good to me" and then talked about how they were looking better I was thinking that she was trying to kiss up because she wanted them to pay for her college. LOL.

When I was 13, I saw that ep for the first time and it just struck me as her wanting some help to pay for college. I was sure she was comfortable living there by that time but I thought she wanted to make sure she was in good with the family.

Pam's boyfriend Sly had a better plan after high school but his teacher was trying to force him to go to college and get in debt LOL

Well, you take a chance. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Getting a degree doesn't always guarantee a job but then again, it can help lead you to a good job.

Yep, Pam just wanted to ensure that the Cosby gravy train would expand to college.

Maybe...maybe not. When I was younger, I thought that she was trying to be nice to get college money.

Pam grew up in the inner city and her behavior reflects that. People aren't born with Pam's mindset, it is learned. It's not as though she was trying to be a jerk, she was intimidated by the Huxtables and their way of life. Acting out in the way she did was her defense mechanism. Cliff and Claire understood her background as Brieanna pointed out, but knew she had potential. They looked past her attitude and gave her the discipline and love that she needed to overcome that. The longer she was in the show, the more respectful and disciplined she became. I realize Pam is just a character, but the extreme judgements I've witnessed on this board are still distressing. No one has the same story and we all come from different backgrounds. Tossing an individual aside just because they don't meet a certain mold or reflect your personal values does nothing to help that person or society.

For me, I don't like people messing with the Huxtable family. LOL. I'm protective of them. I still like Pam but I don't think the addition successfully worked out as far as story goes. Erika Alexander is a great actress and I think she was able to show her talents even more when she moved to "Living Single". I did think she was trying in part to get money for college though. I really didn't care as much. I was hoping that they'd help her out.

That is what society teaches. Society is not always right. That is why it is important that wisdom is exercised and you're not just playing the game of "everybody else is doing it".

When she first arrived at the Huxtables she was trying to break the rules on the first day. Pam was not use to having rules to follow, she wasn't use to the strict structure that the Huxtables had laid out before her. So as time went by she became acclimated to the rules, and she finally had structure in her life. So she was basically telling Cliff that she didn't like it at first but now she does.

There wasn't anything wrong with what Pam said, you have to read a bit deeper rather than always looking on the surface.

Yes the show went downhill when they went away from the family kind of like Family Matters.
