Ok, my favorite time of year is coming up! The Oscar nominations are coming out on Tuesday, what and who do you think deserves gold? My picks/guesses:

Moulin Rouge
A Beautiful Mind
Shreck
Harry Potter
Pearl Harbor
(maybe) Lord of the Rings

I hope Nicole Kidman gets recognized (I'm sure she will), Camaron Diaz and Tom Cruise for Vanilla Sky... I really don't know what other performances will be up. I don't think Russell Crowe will win twice in a row.

What do you guys think?

I don't think Harry Potter or Shrek will be up (I assume you mean for best picture?) I don't think they will be nominated for best picture, but they probably will in other categories....anyway, didin't they just introduce a Best Animated Film category, or did I just dream that up?

For best picture, I think In the Bedroom might get a nod. Part of me thinks Lord of the Rings will too, but at the same time I kind of think it won't just because everyone thinks it will. Moulon Rouge probably will, and I'm not really sure about the rest...maybe A Beautiful Mind (it doesn't help that I'm probably forgetting a bunch of movies that were released earlier in the year).

For best actor, I bet Russell Crowe will be nominated. Winning is a different story though.... Maybe Guy Pierce in Memento? He basically carried that whole film himself. Don't have any idea about anyone else...

Actress...probably Sissy Spaceck, maybe Nicole Kidman..

as for the rest...Ian McKellen might be nominated for supporting actor. There's no doubt in my mind LOTR will be nominated for best adapted screenplay. Oh and no question Amelie will be up for best foreign film.

That's what I think at least, but who knows what those crazies at the Academy are thinking....

I really do think Shrek will be nominated, because it was so popular and hey, they nominated Babe in '95. I agree In the Bedroom and Sissy Spacek deserve a nod. I really don't know, this year has had some real winners and some real stinkers.

What about visual effects? Harry Potter? Lord of the Rings? Planet of the Apes? Talk about a good year!
