View Full Version : The one downside to watching this show is that I never understand the humor since

I was only a baby at the time. I get so jealous of how the studio audience is just busting out laughing and going crazy and I have no idea why. Kind of disappointing:lol:

In almost every episode from 1975 to 1978 I can only say......."I had to be around to understand"

Yeah, I know the feeling. I'm glad I've watched Maude reruns with my mom, because she can explain a joke/reference that was before my time. Maude ended its run a year before I was born, and I was born about halfway during The Jeffersons' run.

I like to watch The Jeffersons with my dad. He was about 30 when the show first aired, so he always got the humor. I was in kindergarten at the time. I still remember watching the show with him when it was running in the 70s.

My mom is passionate Historian and loves to provide historical information about EVERYTHING:lol:

If we was watching the episode when George was wearing the red and black Tux she would have told me some fun facts about men who wore those at the time:lol:

My dad used to dance around like George Jefferson. Sometimes he still does it, and he's in his late 60s.
We also used to do the Tom Willis dance as a goof. That was fun.

That's right, and Mick moved around more like a chicken with the way he would flap his arms. But some of their dance styles/foot work was similar. Both had great moves.
