icecream 12-20-2012, 01:31 AM What's on hiatus: Three's Company, Soap, Totally Tooned InThe Three Stooges and Benny Hill are also leaving the schedule.
icecream 12-20-2012, 01:36 AM I wonder if the Hub will keep the Facts of Life on Wednesdays as it will go head-to-head with Different Strokes in the 9PM hour.
icecream 12-20-2012, 04:24 PM Different Strokes in primetime 3 nights a week is good, so is Barney Miller gaining two hours on Thursday. The 9PM-midnight weekday lineup is much improved except for Good Times on Friday. Although I wanted it at 9PM, Benson moving an hour earlier is better than where it was. Friday night is a better night for me to see Alfred Hitchcock than Saturday. Adam-12 and Dragnet moving later is nice. I like Suspense Theatre returning. Good riddance to the Three Stooges. Hazel leaving weekdays is disappointing, Father Knows Best should have gone instead. I also don't like Bachelor Father and Jack Benny losing their Friday night slots, I would rather see them and Hazel on weekend afternoons instead of The Flying Nun, The Monkees, and It Takes a Thief. Maude is a big downgrade from WKRP on Sundays.
mets82 12-20-2012, 09:01 PM Seems like they put a lot of Leave it To Beaver on the schedule. Maybe thats just me.
Adam-12 and Dragnet must be good shows to have them still around. I dont watch them. Again, the TV Theater I'm not a big fan of but at least its not on early in the morning.

Again, the TV Theater I'm not a big fan of but at least its not on early in the morning.Someone said Leave it to Beaver was expiring in April. It makes sense that they'd want to maximize the plays. Of course Adam-12 and Dragnet were originally leaving at the end of December, so that could still change.
PrettyinPink55 12-20-2012, 09:53 PM Thank you for laying out the schedule so neatly and clearly!! :) It is always very nice and helpful to see the schedules both in written form as well as to see the complete schedule breakdowns. Thanks again!!! :)
I am very happy with this schedule aside from Three's Company leaving, but that will now be on TV Land, so no worries, lol.
SUPER stoked about Diff'rent Strokes!!!!! :woohoo: The only thing is that Wednesday night is FOL night, like you said, catsrule. My DVR may have to do double duty!! ;)
Fred Sanford 12-20-2012, 10:14 PM Hello Pavin,
I've been reading your blogs for a while now. I love finding out the schedules ahead of time. I didn't know you had a message board and other good things.
I really want to say thanks, your blogs are awesome, I read them everyday.
Fred G Sanford, the g stands for greatful! ;-)
Meh. The only shows on there I'd really care to see are Maude and Leave It to Beaver.

Adam-12 and Dragnet were never originally leaving in December... See our Fall 2011 post: http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2011/09/metv-network-fall-2011-schedule.html
TVFactFan 12-21-2012, 01:03 AM Get to finally sample Barney Miller and Benson in the month of February!!!!
Thank You Antenna TV
treky 12-21-2012, 02:16 AM great; BARNEY MILLER and WKRP are coming to primetime!!! I'm dissapointed though that THE 3 STOOGES are leaving the schedule, hopefully they'll bring them back soon. In the meantime I still have my DVDs of them.
qixpoet 12-21-2012, 02:52 AM The new schedule is kinda disappointing.
One new show (diff'rent strokes) and that's it!
They should have bring in few new shows, not one.
Also, I'm going to miss TGIC Friday lineup.
The three stooges was great for Saturday and Sunday mornings.
bencasey 12-21-2012, 11:41 AM Just curious as to if Mad About You and Too Close For Comfort had their contracts run out or if Antenna is just resting them. I didn't record MAY because Shout was still releasing it but it looks like they're done with 2 seasons last, albeit bad ones. Still, I wouldn't mind upgrading my NBC VHS recordings. As for TCFC, I missed a couple of shows the last run through that I need to pick up.
Pavan 12-21-2012, 11:44 AM I think everything is resting. Come spring some could be back, since some shows could be leaving.
TVFactFan 12-21-2012, 07:51 PM I think everything is resting. Come spring some could be back, since some shows could be leaving.
Why rest anything? In the spring it should be more new shows
PrettyinPink55 12-21-2012, 08:14 PM Why rest anything? In the spring it should be more new shows
I think they can only show a certain amount of a show at a certain time. I may be wrong though...I never truly understood the various syndication packages.
TVFactFan 12-21-2012, 08:59 PM I think they can only show a certain amount of a show at a certain time. I may be wrong though...I never truly understood the various syndication packages.
If they removed something it shouldn't return in 5 months. Atleast allow me to miss it a little bit:lol:
Pavan 12-21-2012, 09:24 PM Why rest anything? In the spring it should be more new shows
As I told you before, some shows need to be rested because they are running low on plays per episode. Three's Company was their most aired show, so it's taking a break.
mets82 12-21-2012, 10:33 PM I dont know about the shows resting. I personally think there should be some law or something or whatever that certain shows need a permanent rest for now.
Shows like Everybody Loves Raymond, Mash, Fresh Prince, Good Times etc. need to rest for a good long while. I mean these shows are always on and its unecessary that they play those shows all the time.
I understand ratings and playing the episodes and all but if you have a show thats already on or acquire a show thats been played before on syndication constantly, whats the point?
Pavan 12-21-2012, 11:18 PM I understand ratings and playing the episodes and all but if you have a show thats already on or acquire a show thats been played before on syndication constantly, whats the point?
To make a profit? This is a business and that's the point. Why would those networks care that it is been airing a lot. That makes the show proven, rewatchable, and a success. If you were the president of the network, you'd do the same thing. You have to have something familiar and strong.
TVFactFan 12-21-2012, 11:54 PM In 2013 I want to continue to see new shows on Antenna TV not
the removal of recently added shows
Or
the return of the same ole sh*t
Because that will be when I start losing interest in the channel
mets82 12-21-2012, 11:57 PM Pavan, I respect your point and thats true but here's my point. If Antenna TV was showing, lets say for arguments sake, Friends. Why would I watch it on Antenna TV when I've probably a) Watched the whole series anyway and b) Could probably find it on other stations or syndication?
Threes Company, All in the Family, The Jeffersons I could see resting because they have had been all over the dial over the years. I would argue shows like that have been on more than say Benson, or WKRP in Cincinatti and even ALF.

The Jeffersons hasn't been on Antenna TV yet.

The moment Antenna TV adds Friends will be the day I stop watching. I think Benson and WKRP should be on 5 days a week. I hate this block programming too although at least Barney Miller, WKRP and Diff'rent Strokes are on more.

They better not add no damm friends-LOL
Antenna TV better maintain it's pre-1990 lineup:lol:

You're not getting it. Friends is not in their agenda. This is a classic network and plus they wouldn't be able to air Friends since it is in local syndication nationwide. Antenna TV is NOT cable, they are local. And Three's Company, All in the Family have been on the dial over the years but they produce ratings. That and making money are the point of business for TV network, not to see what show hasn't aired a lot in recent years. Shows like Benson, WKRP haven't been as successful in syndication historically, hence they are not on as much...but they at least are trying them. My point is you need shows like Three's Company, All in the Family, Good Times etc on the network because they are familiar and produce. You can't have everything rare or that hasn't been seen on TV in years or you would not get the ad sales money and frankly the ratings.

You're fickle, though. No one ever said removal of recently added shows or returning of same old crap. There will be new shows and returning series in the next schedule change in spring likely.

Just as long as they give benson and Barney Miller a chance to grab a new fanbase in 2013
PrettyinPink55 12-22-2012, 01:32 AM I'm just so happy that there are channels that are strictly dedicated to classic television programming! :) Could you imagine if our only options were TVLand and Nick @ Nite?!

Yeah both networks are no longer airing shows pre-1990.

Apparently they also air Family Matters which isn't as old as Full House, but it's still 1989. They air it wayyyyy early in the morning it says on their schedule.

What time do those shows air? at 8pm?? LOL
PrettyinPink55 12-22-2012, 02:20 AM What time do those shows air? at 8pm?? LOL
For me (central time) Full House comes on at 8pm in a one hour block. Sometimes it is two hours though. I can never figure out their schedule.

My cousin always makes fun of me for watching the cosby show because she feels it's for kids. She said it was ok when she was 5
But I think that applies more to Full House which seems like a show for preschoolers LMAO
Casey83 12-29-2012, 04:42 PM I have every bit of respect for AntennaTV, but looking at their new line up, the only time I would be even remotely interested in watching is on Sundays from 9am-3pm. I'm glad they are bringing back Rin-Tin-Tin, and McHale's Navy will now be on when I am actually home, but now not even being awake to catch Bachelor Father or Hazel? And the fact they're airing more cop dramas than you can shake a stick at? It's just pulling me more and more to MeTV. I was more of a fan of the western dramas, and sitcoms from the 50's and 60's, and MeTV is chock full of them. The Rifleman, Hogan's Heroes, I Love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke, I Dream of Jeannie and Bewitched (both coming in January), The Big Valley, Wagon Train, Bonanza, Get Smart, The Beverly Hillbillies, The Donna Reed Show...and that's just scratching the surface. :)

That's why I;m not a huge fan of ME-TV because most of their shows are from the 50's and 60's era
1960'sTVfan 12-29-2012, 08:30 PM That's why I;m not a huge fan of ME-TV because most of their shows are from the 50's and 60's era
The 50's & 60's was actually the best era for TV, especially the 60's. Some 50's shows are dated now and not really watchable anymore. TV was in it's developmental phase in the 50's, in the 60's everything fell into place and TV was at it's peak. TV started going downhill slowly in the 70's, in the 80's is when TV went completely into the crapper.

To me the 60's era didn't do it for me. I think that is the worst decade for TV and Music.

It is a matter of opinion. For me, the 60's was better for TV than for music, and the 70's was better for music than for TV. There are some songs from the 60's that I enjoy, but overall I like 70's music better. I do enjoy a few 70's sitcoms, but I much prefer sitcoms from the 60's over sitcoms from the 70's. I've always felt that the 60's was the decade for sitcoms and the 70's was the decade for cop shows. The 60's was a decade of radical changes, the world changed a lot in that 10 year span from 1960 to 1969.

The '60s? The home of the British invasion? To quote Zack Ryder, are you serious bro???? :-)
To me, the worst was the late '90s, and TV and music never recovered since. There are good shows and artists, but they seem to normally get buried under the not so good "darlings" of the media.
Back to the topic, I wonder, with Three's and Benny Hill leaving, and Too Close already gone, is Antenna losing the rights to the Taffner shows?

I think it's time for Three's Company to leave Antenna TV and come back later in 2013. It's been on enough.

I agree completely. I think it needs to take a year hiatus.
TVFactFan 01-01-2013, 12:13 AM I agree completely. I think it needs to take a year hiatus.
Especially since it's on TV Land on saturdays
HarryWild 01-01-2013, 10:32 PM I am glad they moved Bachelor Father to late Sunday Mornings. I do not like Different Strokes. I have to see now what MeTV changes are. But I think Antenna TV just switch there existing programs to different time slots for different viewers. Over all; I glad it the same programs as before.
I am a big fan of 50s and 60s programming. It was a time of innocents and mostly of lighthearted entertainment.
Wish they take out Maude and Good Times. I dislike both of these shows!
TVFactFan 01-02-2013, 07:43 PM Just took a look at the schedule tonight and I don't like the 8pm to 9pm slot
7pm-Maude
730pm-Maude
8pm-All in the Family
830pm-All in the Family
9pm-Different Strokes
9:30pm-Different Strokes
All in the Family should be before Maude. So I guess I will be watching the Cosby Show on TV Land from 8pm to 9pm

PrettyinPink55 01-05-2013, 09:58 PM Solomon, are you kidding?? The 60's was an AMAZING decade for music!!!! There was so much going on during that time period. The world was losing its innocence and all the trouble and turbulence of the decade was reflected in its art!! I am forever fascinated by the 1960s because there was just so much going on historically, culturally, socially, etc.!!

Maybe you should call Comcast and ask them to remove the channel since they don't program to your personal preference? Actually, what you should be calling them about is this newfangled invention called a DVR.

As many times as I've seen the episodes, I never get tired of the show. I take breaks for long stretches of time so I don't get sick of it. Whenever I go back, it isn't as shocking as it was before. But it's still GREAT television. I will forever love that show.
DVR is $10 more a month on my bill. $10 a month adds up, but it is well worth it. I haven't watched many shows air live in years.

I rather put $10 toward food LOL
Buffyboy323 01-08-2013, 10:27 PM I rather put $10 toward food LOL
Yes, definitely! But when you do eventually get the extra $10 a week to spend, you should think of investing in a DVR. It makes life VERY easy for TV fans.
mets82 01-08-2013, 10:41 PM I'd rather put $10 towards food or gas or treating myself to a sandwich or something. With me,Im not the most technical person is the world so getting a DVR would just confuse me and aggravate me.

It must have been your local affiliate because I watched it here. Occasionally that happens with my METV affiliate.

Agee with you 110%!
I grew up in the 60s and it was an amazing time for music. Both pre and post Beatles invasion '64. MANY great artists and songs: The fantastic "Bobbies" (Bobby Vee, Bobby Rydell, Bobby Darrin), some of those great girl groups like the Shirelles & Supremes. And of course the Beatles. I'll never forget the first time I heard "I Want To Hold Your a hand" and thinking WHAT IS THAT WONDERFUL SONG? And almost all of their early stuff (liked pre '67 efforts the most). The Beach Boys with their fantastic California sound. The Monkees (I'll never forget how I flipped for Daydream Believer) and later in the decade "Bubblegum" groups (1910 Fritgum Co, Archie's, Ohio Express).
And last but certainly not least the soul sound with Lady Soul leading the way(Re Re )
And even with all this know I'm gonna look back on this post and go "how could I have forgotten this singer or that group. It was an Amazing decade of music. I'm about as far from "yuck" as a person can get when I refect on music from the 60s.
OH Nuts! 01-14-2013, 08:28 AM Also just to everyone in general. Sorry for coming in so late on this thread. When I saw its title I thought it was just about Different Strokes. Since I could take or leave that particular show I pretty much skipped over this thread and sorry I did. (Live and learn I guess)
Regarding Antenna TV in general can't say enough great things about them. A real treasure trove of shows. I've burned 200 DVDs of great stuff. Many shows I never thought would even make a premium channel like Bachelor Father and Here Come The Brides. And all free. How can you beat that?
Is Antenna perfect? No but what is. Considering that this is a free channel I'd rate them a 98. El crappo Nick and Night and mediocre tV Land well below 60.

This is going to sound really strange, but I almost wish I was born then so that I could experience all of that. It seems like it was such an exciting time in which to grow up, not just from a musical standpoint, but also historically, culturally, socially, etc. What an amazing decade!!

It was an exciting time. I was in the 4th grade when "The British Invasion" struck and I remember a lot about The Monkees (I was in Jr. High). That being said, the 70s had its moments too.
BigManMike 01-15-2013, 11:53 AM So I've been gone from this forum for almost a month because of some personal issues, but I'm back now. I have to say what I think about this new schedule. I'm not quite a big fan of the block programming and I wish every weeknight had the same schedule as it did before, but the shows are good that they have. I am really enjoying Diff'rent Strokes. I've been watching every night it's been on. I'm also glad to see that they're showing more Barney Miller on Thursday. I don't quite understand why they picked Good Times for Friday since it already airs during the week at other times. But I don't mind it, it's convenient for me and I enjoy it, although it might have been better to show Benson then since they're still only showing it on Sundays which I don't like because it's on during the 10:00 news so I can't see it. I miss having Beaver and Dennis on Friday nights, but I never really cared about the other black and white shows on there, so that's not a big deal. The thing I hate the most are the movies on Saturday nights. I wish they could have shown something else then.
icecream 01-15-2013, 01:15 PM I miss having Beaver and Dennis on Friday nights,Beaver is still on Friday nights, at 11:00 and 11:30 like the other weeknights.
BigManMike 01-15-2013, 04:10 PM Beaver is still on Friday nights, at 11:00 and 11:30 like the other weeknights.
10:00 and 10:30 my time. That's when I watch the local news. I wish it was on one or two hours earlier like it used to be.
TVFactFan 01-20-2013, 12:23 AM Antenna TV gets it wrong twice today in regards to the Conrad bain tribute
1. Airing mostly season 1 episodes for Different Strokes
2. Airing the marathon from 1pm to 8pm instead of 6pm to 2am

I agree. It would have been better if it had been done at night. I ended up only watching one or two episodes of Maude then I watched basketball since I already saw most of the Diff'rent Strokes episodes.

2. The two season 2 eps that aired during the tribute will be seen next Wednesday on Antenna TV

That might be your local affiliate switching from the national feed in to local commercials.
I don't get Antenna TV right now, so I don't really have a dog in the fight, but it'd be nice if Mad About You got exposure again (and NewsRadio). Maybe 1-3am would be a nice time to run an hour of each, and do something else with Jack Benny and Burns & Allen (sorry, not a fan). After all of these years I am personally sick of all of the Norman Lear shows except for Maude, but I'm sure they're still popular.
I wish Me-TV had a cleaner scheduling strategy like Antenna TV does.

icecream 03-11-2013, 03:40 PM For the 2nd straight year Antenna TV is airing a Three Stooges marathon on April Fool's Day. This time it will be all day, yuck. I won't be watching any Antenna that day.

MRPITT 03-11-2013, 11:24 PM I enjoy the Stooges every now and again but not a whole marathon worth, I'd rather see a marathon of themed episodes of a varitey of different shows.
