Hey all. On my blog I've started a tournament in which you can vote for your favorite comedy that has aired on CBS in the 9pm timeslot. There have been quite a few hits in the timeslot, such as I Love Lucy, All in the Family, M*A*S*H, Murphy Brown, and Everybody Loves Raymond! There are sixteen shows, who will win? To cast your vote, just click on the link in my signature.

And please, continue the discussion here on Sitcoms Online, like why you voted the way you did! :)

Thanks!!

If you want an idea of how to vote and a quick history lesson to boot, here's how the Monday at 9 time slot has been used -- and at times misused -- by CBS since Lucy took over in 1951:

I Love Lucy (1951-57)

Make Room For Daddy/Danny Thomas Show (1957-64) (Marjorie Lord era)

The Lucy Show (1964-65)

The Andy Griffith Show (1965-68) (post-Don Knotts colour episodes)

Mayberry RFD (1968-71)

Here's Lucy (1971-74)

Maude (1974-75; 1976-77)

All In The Family (1975-76)

The Betty White Show (1977-78) (cancelled after 14 episodes)

MASH (1978-83)

AfterMASH (1983-84)

Kate & Allie (1984-86)

Newhart (1986-88)

Murphy Brown (1988-97)

Cybill (1997-98)

Everybody Loves Raymond (1998-2005)

Two and a Half Men (2005-2012)

Two Broke Girls (2012-present)

CBS' Monday has really been must see tv going all the way back to I Love Lucy. It's the one night of comedy that has remained since the 1950's.

^The 9:00 hour, at least. The 8:00 slot was sometimes filled by a drama in the 70's and 80's (Gunsmoke, Scarecrow & Mrs. King, The White Shadow, the very short-lived Young Dan'l Boone). 8:00 has been sitcoms continuously since 1986.

CBS should promote its Monday comedy lineup as An American TV Tradition [though the shows themselves have changed].
