View Full Version : Your Holiday Parties, Dinners, Get-Togethers, etc
Janice 12-16-2012, 07:44 PM :stocking: What have you been doing or plan to do this holiday season?
A work party, getting together with a friend(s) for lunch or dinner, that sort of thing. :frosty:
Some people who live in our condo complex are planning on having a get-together, with food and a grab. We'll attend that. :tree:
A couple of Lou's kids will visit when he comes home. :santa2: I'll just order wings, pizza and have some goodies for the grandkids.
That's about it here. This is an off year for us. No complaining here. :)
What's on your social calendar? :candle:
Penny Lane 12-16-2012, 10:15 PM My daughter is having Christmas dinner at her home this year. A first for her and she is really excited! She and her husband have just finished remodeling their family room and she can't wait to show it off! Her kids, my husband and son and my sister and her son will be there. No plans for Christmas Eve except staying home and watching my very favorite Christmas movie "Scrooge" the musical starring Albert Finney(1970). We usually stay home on New Years Eve. In fact the last New Years Eve party that we attended was in 1978! But we enjoy just staying home and opening a bottle of Asti Spumante. We are usually in bed by 10:00.Party Animals we are! New Years Day my Mom will have dinner and we will spend the day with most of my 6 brothers and sisters.
By the way, Janice, I'm so happy to hear that Lou will be home for the holidays. You(and he) will need a lot of patience I'm sure but stay strong and have faith that he will fully recover. We are all pulling for him here! Have a joyous and blessed holiday season you two! :cc:
Family Ties Forever! 12-16-2012, 11:21 PM My mother is cooking on Christmas Eve.
My sister is going to the airport on Christmas Day to go visit my brother in Florida and will come home on New Year's Eve.
Christmas Day plans are not certain.
Regulus 12-17-2012, 12:24 AM On Christmas Eve I'll attend two Candlelight Services at two different Churches (Last year I attended a Candlelight Service at the Ormond Beach united Methodist Church, then went to the Midnight Mass at St. Paul's Basilica in Daytona Beach (It's fun to see how people of different faiths celebrate Christmas). On Christmas Day I'm going to a Friend's House on Christmas Morning where we'll exchange gifts. I will then visit my Mother in the Nursing Home, then Join my Friend at her Mother's House for Christmas Dinner. :santa2:
Number 9 Dream 12-17-2012, 11:19 AM This Friday I'm doing a Secret Santa dinner/gift exchange with my coworkers, which I organized. It's been a lot of fun :D We're doing chocolate fondue at a nearby Italian restaurant, which is where we'll eat & do the gift exchange. Afterwards, we'll pile into one girl's truck -- which can seat 8 -- and grab some hot drinks at Starbucks before seeing a Christmas light show. Im super excited and hope everyone has a blast.
Christmas Eve is at my mom's house, where we'll have dinner & exchange gifts; maybe watch some Christmas movies. I'll most likely spend the night. Not sure which of my brothers will be there.
Christmas Day is always with my dad and his side of the family. We'll go to my grandma's for dinner & dessert. We always eat too much, watch TV or play a board game together. Gift exchange usually happens when my youngest cousin gets there.
We're having a Christmas supper Wed. night at the factory but we're not exchanging gifts. Then Sat. night after closing we're having a little christmas dinner at the restaurant where I work part-time. The in-laws are skipping a Christmas get-together, because there are so many of them & they all work different shifts. Christmas Eve, we'll go to my mothers & Christmas Day we'll stay home & I get to cook.
OH Nuts! 12-17-2012, 10:28 PM There are a lot of Department Holiday parties where I work. For Xmas just plan to have a low key day - maybe lunch or dinner out with a few close friends. And plan to watch some Xmas related sitcom eps of course.
HuntingtonM15 12-17-2012, 10:40 PM My family Christmas party is on Sunday. The annual party had been reduced to a dinner the past few years, but this year it's more of an actual event again, with a hall being rented and everything. I have a holiday work dinner on the 28th, however, I will give gifts to a couple co-workers this coming Friday.

janet42 12-22-2012, 01:11 PM Christmas Eve: I will be celebrating Christmas with my family at my mom's house.
Christmas Day: One of my sisters invited me to her home for Christmas dinner.
My family has gotten to big for us to do secret Santa. We only give the nieces and nephews presents. But two of my sisters and one of my brothers have been a big help to me since my mom died so I'm giving them presents. Two of my siblings are exchanging presents with me since my mom died and she no longer can do presents for her kids.
phoebe7165 12-22-2012, 01:36 PM Not a thing.
Have to work tomorrow and Christmas Eve. Off Christmas but the sis has to work and the bf is still on the road, probably won't get home until almost New Year's. So my plan for Christmas is sleeping in. then probably lay around and watch TV all day. Probably watch the "Princess Bride" marathon on Sundance Channel - it's one of my favorite movies!!!!
