A post that I recently read on You Tube has given me some very interesting food for thought in terms of why Helen Hunt virtually dropped out of existence in terms of the media. Before I go on, I would like to point out that, according to my observations, Elmo bashing a Reality TV bashing seem to be two very popular hobbies of Generation Xers. Just in case you have not figured out which Elmo I am writing about, I am writing about the Elmo from "Sesame Street". It seems as if most people from my generation hate that little red monster with a passion! If you go to, just about any "Sesame Street" upload on You Tube you will find post after post about how Elmo ruined "Sesame Street"! They will ramble on an on about how the show is not "Sesame Street" anymore, it is "Elmo's World"! I find the whole situation to be quite amusing! In any event, earlier this evening, I was watching the upload of the 1978 holiday special "Christmas Eve on Sesame Street". I thought that this special was very well done! In any event, it was par for the course for someone to post a comment about how it was a great special because Elmo was not there to ruin it! After ping-ponging this issue back and fourth for a few posts, this poster wrote something that really started me thinking. He or she said that, now everyone hates Elmo because he became so big. I wrote back saying that, the lesson that we can learn from this is that, if you feed people too much, they get tired of the food. I wonder if this same lesson can be applied to this show's Helen Hunt!

When "Mad About You" came out, it was a supper hit! No question but that Helen was one of the things that made it a hit! I thought that she was hot right from the beginning! This show was so popular that repeats of the old episodes were on in syndication while new episodes were still being made. During this show's seven-year run, Helen was in movie after movie. I thought that a lot of her movies were great! I remember in 1999, she was in four movies almost back to back! She was also on the cover of countless magazines. It was amazing! However, when this show finally came to an end, Helen Hunt became a has-been almost overnight! Look at how few and far-between her movies are now. Look at how many people under thirty years old have never even heard of her! This is where the Elmo situation ties in. Maybe the people who would see her everywhere they went felt that the planet that we lived on was not earth anymore. It was "Helen's World"!
