Family Ties Forever!

I'm wondering what the fascination is with gloves that have no fingers? My mother said that they are very popular. I think they look so tacky. I would never wear fingerless gloves. I guess it's a younger generation thing. My sister who is 20 likes them. My mother thnks that my nieces who are all teenagers would like them. I think that gloves should either be the regular ones that cover your hands and fingers or just don't wear gloves at all. Just my opinion. The whole point of gloves is to keep your hands and fingers warm.
Do you like the new kind or perfer the regular kind?

When I was in marching band we had to cut the fingers off our gloves so we could play our instrument, we called them hobo gloves
I don't know why anyone would want them either.

I think some people like them because they are easier to text with. I prefer the regular kind.

Makes it easier to bait your ice fishing hook. Try doing that with regular gloves!

The first person I remember seeing wear them was Madonna back in the 80s.

Wow, you just brought back a flashback for me, because I was in marching band, and played clarinet, and we had to cut our gloves, too!! Yeah, anybody who played an instrument that had keys had to cut them. I never heard them called hobo gloves though.
I know WM sells the winter gloves without fingers/mittens. It's not actually a mitten, but what it is, is the gloves have no fingers and there's a piece of cloth that's supposed to be the end of the mitten, that is connects but also kind of hangs off, so you can wear it either as a glove without fingers or a mitten.

I wear the gloves described in this thread - Isotoner gloves are my fave, because these are usually lined! I don't know why, I just like them. :) (I'm 27, as a point of reference)

Wow Alison! I didn't realize how old you are! I still think of you as in your late teens/early 20's. Where has the time gone? Merry Christmas!:santa:
I almost bought that type of glove at Walmart thinking they were regular gloves. I didn't know why they had so many of them on the rack but I guess there is a demand for them.

When I think of gloves or mittens, I think of clothes for the hands to wear when your hands are cold. Wearing finger less gloves would give me cold fingers. I would hate to have a pair mountain climbing.

Hee! Merry Christmas to you also :) I agree - how did that happen?! I still don't feel 27 a lot of days. But I guess it's sinking in now - I am so bad at guessing ages now!!
