...Failure to communicate.

This happened saturday while I was driving to Home Depot to get some wood.
My brake pedal kept going all the way to the floor and I had to keep pumping them to stop. I pulled over and checked my cylinder and saw I didn't have any brake fluid and Auto Zone was too far away so I walked down the street to one of those gas station/liquor stores. The guy working there was a foreigner and I asked him if he carried brake fluid, He replied " What ? "
So I repeated myself and again he said, " What ? " After awhile I discovered that was the only English word he knew. I started lifting my foot in the air acting like I was pushing down on a brake pedal and asking for brake fluid.
He just looked confused and said " What ? ". Most people would have become
frustrated by then but I started to find it humorous. I was thinking of telling
him, " No, What's on second " but the line of people behind me was starting
to get big and I didn't think they would appreciate me playing Abbott and Costello with Mr. What. A lady came out of the back room who spoke English and I was able to get my brake fluid. Ever have a situation like that ?
