30 years ago

Famed Singer/Songwriter/Musician John Mellencamp who was then known as John Cougar scored his 1st Big Album on the Pop Album Chart in Canada and in America entitled American Fool

The Album went Quintuple Platinum and went to #1 on the Pop Album Chart in Canada and America

2 of the songs from that album went Gold in the USA and Platinum in Canada

"Hurt So Good" and Jack & Diane"

Hurt So Good reached #2 on the Pop Chart and it became a #1 Hit in Canada and on American Mainstream while Jack & Diane became his 1st #1 Pop Hit in Canada and in America and it was Top 5 on American Mainstream peaking @ #3

Love this album. It was what got me into Mellencamp and eventually made me a Mellenhead.

It's a good album although I got sick of "Jack & Diane" rather quick. You also forgot "Hand to Hold On to" which was the 3rd single from the Lp

IMO, the best song off of the album is "Thundering Hearts". Although it was never released as a single, it was the 4th song off of the album that got substantial radio airplay, and I believe it charted on Billboard's rock songs chart.
