The CW Cancels "Emily Owens, M.D."
Nov 28, 2012
by Natalie Abrams

The CW has pulled the plug on "Emily Owens, M.D.", TVGuide.com has confirmed. The network has elected not to pick up the back nine episodes of the medical dramedy.

Starring Mamie Gummer and Justin Hartley, "Emily" will wrap production on its initial 13-episode order next week, and the network will air all episodes, six of which have already aired.

"Emily Owens" bowed to 1.7 million viewers and a 0.5 in the adults 18-to-49 demographic, building on "Hart of Dixie's" lead-in audience (1.3 million, 0.6), but it was down more than 50 percent compared to "Ringer's" debut, which premiered mid-September last year in the same timeslot.

However, "Dixie" and "Owens'" premiere numbers combined for The CW's most-watched Tuesday since Nov. 29, 2011, despite going up against a debate. Its latest outing drew 1 million viewers and a 0.3.

The CW REALLY needs help!!!

The only show worth watching on that network is The Vampire Diaries.

It used to be my go-to network, but now it's just awful.

I miss the old days of The WB with shows like Gilmore Girls, Everwood, Dawson's Creek, One Tree Hill, Smallville, Reba, Popular, Roswell, Buffy, Angel, and yes...7th Heaven. Even Gossip Girl is an interesting show. Veronica Mars and Everybody Hates Chris on UPN as well as comedies like The Game, etc. were good shows on UPN.

I think when The WB and UPN became The CW, it was just a bad decision. The network hasn't been the same since. :(

It's a shame, really. ohno: ohno: ohno:

They need a breakout hit next season and to really rethink their whole network strategy.

I miss my teen-angst dramas with substance!!!
