The cast of Night Court got notices that they were told to vacate their dressing rooms by a certain date or their belongings would be thrown out. The cast of Married With Children had to find out their show was being cancelled by fans and newspaper articles. Both shows didnt know if the last episode would actually be the big send off.
So what you can really say is that both shows kind of treated their cast with disrespect in the end of the series by telling them to get out of their dressing rooms or not even notifying them at all.

Never knew Night Court's cast were treated horribly, knew about Married... with Children's abrupt ending though. I haven't seen Night Court's finale yet, but Married... with Children deserved a better ending than what it got.

Especially considering that MWC was really Fox's first hit sitcom (besides one if their longest running) if not show itself and what kept the network (along w/ The Simpsons) during the pre-NFL days.

I didn't like how ALF ended either. The last episode left a lot of questions unanswered for me. From what I remember, his secret identity was finally discovered and he was left alone in a field somewhere and then the episode and the series ended just like that. It was very sad.


Now if you want to talk about bizarre endings, this next story beats them all for me. In the early 90s, ABC had a sitcom that didn't last too long called "I Married Dora". It was about a man who marries a Latin housewife so she can stay in the US, or something like that. Anyway, the series is famous for the way it ended. In the very last scene, her husband tells her that they've been cancelled. She thinks he's referring to a flight they're supposed to board but instead he says with a straight face, "No, it's our show. Our show has been cancelled." Then the show ends right there while everyone, actors and audience alike, are completely stunned. Since TV first began, I doubt that anyone, before or since, has ever ended their series in a stranger fashion. See for yourself:

Both shows should have known that the end was near. I believe NC actually was supposed to end the year before but then NBC renewed it at the last minute. They both had more than enough time to end it gracefully. Ratings were falling for both shows. Sometimes it's better to leave early than overstay your welcome.

I've seen most of the episodes of ALF, but I don't think I've ever seen the finale. I have heard before that it wasn't very good.

I Married Dora actually had a 1987-1988 run. The final moment of the series was brilliant!
