All the men were watching the game and Clair turns it off and tells them to come to the table???

At my house the men go come to the table to bless the food and then after that we go back to the living room and watch the game with our food. No game has never been turned off completely

Why does she turn off the TV?

Why does she turn off the TV?

Because we talk and have conversation at the dinner table. When most of everyone is finished eating the football fans go to the Den to watch football. They don't miss much of the game seeing that it takes about 20 mins to eat.

The biggest game of the day is the Cowboys so It would be better to eat before that game comes on

i don't really care about football so I haven't paid attention, but couldn't you just pause it on the DVR and watch it from there after dinner?

that said, i don't think I noticed anyone turning it off

No Man should allow the TV to be off in his house on Thanksgiving period. You can mute the sound during the blessing but that's it

The women sit at the table and the men are in the living room with the game eating their dinner on the fold up table

No Man should put a silly game ahead of his family, period.

It's one day a year you are giving thanks that you get to all be together to share a meal; you can always record a game or watch the highlights, you'll never get a chance to have more time with your family once they are gone.

We always ate when the Lions game was on. We never missed the Cowboys game. After we ate I usually fell asleep anyway. lol

The meal is being shared, women at the table and the men in the living room:lol:

The football game is from 4pm to 7pm so the family time you have is

2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 10pm with the time in between while the game is on

We ate about 4pm and the Cowboys game still was due to come until 30 mins later.

I think the schedule should be changed to

Lions game at 1pm

Cowboys game at 8pm

I don't see the need for 3 games on Thanksgiving

But the cowboys lost so does it really matter? It's like every other game they play. They are so bad that my aunt and one of my uncles ( who are both cowboy "fans") root for the other teams to beat the Cowboys.

We always ate around 12:30 and then we'd go sit in front of the tv. The lions game was usually bad so we'd take a nap. then we'd wake up for the Cowboys game. Then we'd go out and get some more food and eat in front of the TV. lol

On Thanksgiving most of the Men's at our house (Hardcore football fans) ate in the living room watching the Football Game. but with only Three tables that had a total of about 25 Chairs there was not room for everybody to sit at one table so most of the guys watch the game and ate. The Kids ate in my Niece bedroom where there was a Table set up. We are all still together maybe not at the same one big table but we are till all together.
