Can you believe the holiday season is nearing? Thanksgiving is this week, which means Christmas is right around the corner! And then it will be 2013 already a week after Christmas. Time flies! Anyway as I mentioned, I have put together our annual network television (ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, The CW) holiday specials list that we all like to watch every year like Frosty the Snowman and A Charlie Brown Christmas, new classics like Shrek the Halls and Disney Prep & Landing 2: Naughty Vs. Nice and we even get some all-new specials like It's a SpongeBob Christmas. Sure the network holiday line-ups are not as detailed as some cable networks like ABC Family, but the main holiday specials are still on network television! These are just actual holiday related specials and movies, not movies or specials airing during the holiday season on broadcast network television, kicking it off Wednesday with A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving on ABC.

Wow! How long has it been since Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol has aired on network television?

NBC's showing of It's a Wonderful Life lasts three hours, the original running time of this movie is 132 Minutes. Knowing NBC they'll probably trim 12 minutes of it off, which means you'll be watching ONE HOUR OF COMMERCIALS! :angryfire Sorry, I'll watch my version instead. :p

I have ost of the "Staples" (A Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Little Drummer Boy) among others on DVD. New for me this year is The Mouse on the Mayflower, which I haven't seen on TV for EONS.

holiday specials aren't the events they were in the 70s when you could only see them once a year and you had to wait until the next year if you missed any, but they're probably still profitable enough for the networks to air

No offense, but most of the holiday specials on those networks are crap, especially Hallmark (quality, not quantity, Hallmark; sheesh). They'll never hold a candle to the "holy grail" specials, like Charlie Brown, The Grinch, Rudolph; etc.

I watch some of the movies on Hallmark and ABC Family. I do think that there is too much over saturation. Not neccessary to have christmas movies on Hallmark Channel at 6am replacing I Love Lucy.

I also think the problem is that all these tv movies are out but where are the classic ones? White Christmas, A Christmas Story, Its a Wonderful Life etc.? I remember Thanksgiving night used to have Christmas movies on the major networks.

(Watch, with my luck Mill Creek or someone else come out with a DVD Release that will end up in Wally's $5.00 Bin, :mad: But if that happens it won't be the first, or the last!) :lol:

Hallmark is popping out movies like hot rolls out of an oven. I think they said 12 new movies in November and December. Some of them are decent and have classic TV stars in them, but I wish they would focus on quality over quantity. It's doing great for them, though, so most viewers must not feel this way.

I'm looking for a good source of holiday television listings... A website that can tell me all the holiday shows (not just the usual stuff, but sitcoms, movies, etc).

Any suggestions??

Speaking of Holiday Specials that will never be seen again on TV; three years ago, I bought a grey market DVD of the Star Wars Holiday Special that came complete with an episode of The Muppet Show with a Star Wars Theme. I gave it to my girlfriend's young grandson who is a big Star Wars fan. :)

First, it has a schedule of the ABC Family Christmas movie schedule which has been covered here.

Also, there is a small listing of Christmas movies with the times and schedules.
