Lana was so funny and crazy!! i always thought the writers should have had lana and Mr. Furley get married!! it would have been like the ropers expect Mr. Furley always wanting to have sex {like helen}, and lana always finding a way to get out of it [like Mr. Roper}, and even though they were married she would still try to get jack.

I don't know about her marrying Furley, but I did enjoy her on the show. 'A Camping We Will Go' and 'A Black Letter Day' were great episodes featuring Lana!

Oddly enough, Ann Wedgeworth (Lana) and Jordan Charney (Mr. Angelino) played a married couple on the now-defunct NBC soap Another World and its spinoff, Somerset. That was in the late 60s/early 70s. Audra Lindley (Mrs. Roper) had a lead role on AW at that time, too.

The camping episode was one of the funniest in the show's whole run. The hammock scene alone is classic.

Wow another Fun Fact from catlover, Thanks.

No problem - there are pics and a fun story of the two of them from their AW days, but I'm too tired to post them up now. I'll try to get to it sometime this week.

I had a big crush on Lana. There was something so Womanly about her. She was in a movie with John Cryer and Demi Moore in the 80s called "No Small Affair" She played John's mother in it. I only watched it so I could see her, but I ended loving the movie anyway.

Felipe!...now there's a character who should have stayed on the show, in addition to Lana.

Angelino bugged me but I guess you needed an antagonist to Jack.

Hey Sol, here are the pics of Jordan Charney (Mr. Angelino) and Ann Wedgeworth (Lana) on Another World. In the group photo, they are both on the far left. I also included pictures of Audra Lindley, who also starred on AW around the same time, from that show. Enjoy!!! :D

She was so funny on "A Camping We Will Go" with her chasing after Jack and Furley chasing her. That was one of my favorite episodes. I liked her on the show but I've read that many people didn't care much for her character.

too old to be friends with Janet and Chrissy
Too young for Furley

At least it would have gave Furley a proper ending.

My theory on why Larry and Furley weren't given proper endings in the Three's Company finale was that I read they offered Don Knotts and Richard Kline parts in 3's a Crowd but they turned them down.

A clue that they were expecting Larry to appear all the time in "Three's A Crowd" was that Jack told Larry he was just moving a mile away to the Bistro and Larry all of a sudden stopped worrying. That meant they were hoping Larry would drop in all the time at Jack's Bistro, but Richard opted to star in his own show for a pilot on CBS that didn't get picked up.

From IMDB:

Wedgeworth joined the seasoned cast of Three's Company in 1979 as bosomy neighbor-divorcée Lana Shields, who had strict and assertive designs on John Ritter's Jack Tripper character. It was a tawdry, one-note character who really didn't fit in with the harmless leering and silly, physical slapstick of the show. She was promptly written out of the series mid-season with no explanation given in the story for Lana's disappearance. Later, Wedgeworth revealed that she wasn't fired but asked to be let go. After shooting a couple of episodes of the show, Wedgeworth said, some of the cast members were complaining about the size of her part and the character dwindled down to practically nothing. Wedgeworth asked the producers to write the part of Lana back to the way it was intended or release her.

Furley always wanting to have sex {like Helen}, and Lana always finding a way to get out of it [like Mr . Roper}, and even though they were married she would still try to get Jack.

It's funny you should have this idea . Since Jack ( John Ritter ) and the girls were all single, I thought Three's Company should have had a married couple for a balance . When the Ropers ( Audra Lindley, Norman Fell ) left Three's Company, I thought the producers should have introduced another married couple to be the landlords . Helen Roper always wanted to go out for dinner, get romantic with Mr . Roper, and generally get the most out of life . Mr . Roper was an ol' stick in the mud who wanted to stay home and was only interested in sex once in a while . I imagined a new married couple consisting of a man who always wanted to go out for dinner, get romantic with his wife, and generally get the most out of life and a woman who was an ol' stick in the mud who always wanted to stay home and was only interested in sex once in a while .

Lana was too old to date Jack, too old to be friends with Janet and Chrissy, and too young for Furley . [ She ] just didn't fit .

Haven't you ever heard of a "cougar" ? There are women in our society who date younger men . I'm not exactly crazy about the idea, but it does happen . It's also common to make friends with people who are much older or much younger . I made friends with somebody who was the oldest man in the world until he died . He was sixty -- five years older than I was . When my cousin was in her mid -- twenties, she married a man in his forties . She divorced him when she was in her mid -- thirties, and she married a man in his sixties . I wasn't exactly crazy about either marriage, but they did happen .
