One reality that has been mentioned by several posters is the fact that before the part of Katie was given to Kari Michaelsen, Helen Hunt had auditioned for it. The former actress was born in 1961 and the latter was born in 1963. Well I recently learned some very interesting facts about the year in between the births of these two babes! I was over on You Tube watching an upload of a "Flintstone" pilot that never ended up getting sold. The attempt at broadcasting it was made in 1960. Someone had posted a comment about how the first two seasons were originally in black and white but that the series moved to color in the third season. This took place in 1962. Several people responded to that comment offering even more input on the show's move from black and white to color. You see, all of the "Flintstone" cartoons were originally drawn in color, but ABC TV did not have the equipment for broadcasting them in color when the series made its debut. It was in 1962 that the network finally moved from black and white to color. It is because the cartoons were originally drawn in color that all of the reruns including the first two seasons get to be shown in color. Because Kari was born in 1961, I would like to point out that this chick was one-year-old when ABC became a color network! Because Helen Hunt went on to be one of the stars of "Mad About You", I am going to head over there and point out that all of this took place the year before she was born! Hope to see you there!
