"So You Think You Can Dance" Winner Books "Bunheads" Gig (Exclusive)

"Bunheads" is getting some "So You Think You Can Dance" blood.

Jeanine Mason, the season five winner of Fox's dance competition series, has booked a recurring role on the ABC Family ballet drama, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. Her first episode will air Jan. 14.

Newcomer Niko Pepaj also has joined.



Mason and Pepaj will play close-knit siblings, a well-traveled, educated and artistic duo who are new to the town of Paradise.

"Bunheads" returns 9 p.m. Jan. 7.

“I would sign up to do that job again today,” Jeanine Mason says of Amy Sherman-Palladino’s short-lived ballet drama "Bunheads", adding that the series’ creator “is literally the best thing on this planet.”

Mason’s Cozette was a student at the Paradise Dance Academy, which afforded the actress a lot of on-set time with one of her Broadway favorites, series star (and, per Mason, “master crafter”) Sutton Foster.

“She taught me how to knit,” Mason says. “To this day, I knit on set and I think of Sutton every time I bring my needles with me.”
