And it will occur on the Samoan Islands and part of Kiribati before then. In any case I've already mentioned how I feel about the false Mayan prophecy, but there are two other things I know will happen in 2013;

1)Grand Central Terminal will celebrate it's 100th Anniversary on February 1.

2)Jamaica's LIRR station will celebrate it's 100th Anniversary on March 9.

The latter station is sure to have a little less fanfare.
