"Cougar Town" Exclusive: "Partridge Family" Icon Shirley Jones Joins the Cul-de-Sac Crew!

I think we love this.

"Partridge Family" matriarch Shirley Jones has landed a guest stint on the upcoming fourth season of "Cougar Town", TVLine has learned exclusively.



Jones will play one half of a couple that agrees to purchase the house next to Jules (who has the listing) and Grayson under one condition: That they be welcomed into the Cul-de-Sac Crew.

On the plus side, Jules the Realtor scores an easy sale and two new friends (albeit of the elderly variety) in the process. On the downside, Jules the Friend compromises the sanctity of her liquor league — all for a quick buck.



Seeing as how Jones is only booked for one episode, conventional wisdom gives Jules the Friend the edge.

Jones’ episode will air near the end of "Cougar Town‘s" fourth season, which debuts Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 10/9c on TBS.

"I'm the oldest cougar in town," says former "Partridge Family" mom Shirley Jones, who guest stars as Jules' new neighbor on the March 26 episode of TBS's "Cougar Town".

"My character and her husband decide to move to an area where they can play and try some new things out."



Jones is always up for trying new things, having played a predatory older woman in the oh-so-naughty 2006 film Grandma's Boy.

"My look and reputation haven't allowed me this opportunity very often," says Jones, who turns 79 on March 31. "But I won an Academy Award for playing a prostitute [I], so why wouldn't I want to do these saucy roles?"



Jones also plans to drop a few zingers in her upcoming autobiography, Shirley Jones: A Memoir, out in June, and will also take on a genre she's never before tackled: zombie gore.

"I'm playing a 90-year-old blind zombie in a low-budget movie called Dead of Night," says Jones, who starts shooting in April. "It's very bloody and gruesome. How much further from Shirley Partridge could I go from that?"
