I live in China, so this comes from a Chinese website called Youku. This was the Grass Roots from the early 1960's. 50 years ago. Jimmy Durante was the host of the show, which would show how long ago it was.

Creed has two clips of himself. First is 1:30 in the video when he sings the chorus of the song. Then he has an instrumental at 1:48. Even though Creed was about 28 then (in around 1962) he looked like the lovable, yet weird Creed, especially with the wan smile at the end.

It is the last season, and I wish (and it wont happen) that the Grass Roots appear in The Office and let Uncle Creed play. The guy was a member of a very successful 1960's rock act.

B.J. Novak (Ryan) has said that Creed Bratton the man is about the same as the character except that the real Creed is a good hearted man while Creed the character has a dark side.

Did Creed become very wealthy for being in this group? Are all the members of this group still alive?

The band went through several personnel changes over the years. Lead singer Rob Grill died in 2011.

I really liked the Grass Roots and was lucky to have seen them in concert at an oldies type benefit concert. If I recall they were originally put together to tour because of a song. This was common in the 60s where a producer would have studio musicians come in to record a song, then say the song was by a certain group, then form a band (sometimes the same band, sometimes not)to tour with the song/album.
