The Unsolved Mysteries board is really popular on SO. It is always among the most viewed boards, I'm wondering why it's such a big hit on a sitcom oriented site.

Hmmm...for me, personally, I don't have anywhere else to discuss Unsolved Mysteries or the cases featured on the show. The people on this forum are very knowledgeable and are always up-to-date with new developments on old cases. I like that I can come on here and get updates as well as discuss cases with fellow Unsolved Mysteries fans. I don't know of any other such forum where the people genuinely care as much about the cases and the victims involved. I initially came to SO to find out more information about The Facts of Life and whether any network was airing it back in 2005. I was elated to find that there was such a strong Unsolved Mysteries community here. Big3sCompanyFan 11-05-2012, 02:02 AM Probably because there is nowhere else to discuss the cases. I'm surprised how popular it is here too. I wish UM would do new shows! PrettyinPink55 11-05-2012, 11:35 PM Probably because there is nowhere else to discuss the cases. I'm surprised how popular it is here too. I wish UM would do new shows! I just want to see the old Robert Stack ones again!! :( And if they do decide to do new shows, ditch Dennis Farina and the weird space station looking set!! Use the original Robert Stack narrations and hosting and if they have updates on the old cases, have the new host do them as a later addition after airing the original broadcast with Robert Stack, or do a written update!! Big3sCompanyFan 11-06-2012, 01:13 AM I admit the board is active here but if they did new UM shows the national ratings would be horrible! irehtman 05-03-2014, 07:07 PM We thought criminals are all the time stupid, but not for long, they are considered educated. So please do not mis-estmate criminals at all! Dude111 05-04-2014, 03:07 PM I used to LOVE unsolved mysteries when it first came on with Mr. Stack .. Now its crap and I dont watch it...... wiseguy182 05-10-2014, 06:34 AM I would say it's for a couple of reasons. One would be the longevity of the series and the volume of cases presented. Unsolved Mysteries ran on and off for 15 years, which is a very long time for a television series. Getting an exact number of the cases presented would be difficult to pin down, but someone estimated it was about 1500 or so. Not to mention the various specials, the re-boot, the spin-off (Final Appeal) and sub-forums that encompass all true crime shows and cases. And on top of all that, there are still updates to the cases, some decades after the case was presented or crime occured. There is never a shortage of subjects to be discussed. Second would be the overall quality of the forum and the intelligence, sincerity and timeliness of the posters. If someone has a question about a case, there is a 99.9% chance someone knows the answer to it. I've seen a bazillion other forums on the net essentially die out due to lack of posting, or becoming troll-infested, or a number of other reasons. That's never happened with the UM board. There are a lot of truly wonderful people on there and it's easily one of the best forums on the net. And that is why it is so popular. Mr. Television 08-03-2014, 04:02 PM The UM board is more active than the CC board anymore. lol |
