Now I have watched Janet's Secret from season 5 hundreds of times, it's one of my favorite episodes. I noticed something last night I never thought of before. I always liked Janet's dad. He is like Jack in a way; easy going and wants to have fun. Janet is a lot like her mother; she is kind of uptight, serious, and at her worst, condenscending.

In season 8, Janet's dad visits Janet without his wife and maybe then you will see what I'm saying. I realize he has the type of wife who would cramp his style. Remind you of anybody?:lol:

John said during the E! True Hollywood story that those episodes are why Janet couldn't be in the spinoff with him. Because viewers had already met Janet's parents.

John was totally wrong there! The viewers wouldn't have cared if you brought someone else to play Janet's dad for the spinoff! Look at the actors on TC who played different roles like Jeffrey Tambor!

Sorry to Bump this thread after so long, but....

The actor who played Janet's father, also played Chrissy's Boss in "The Catered Affair". He had some funny scenes in that one as well.
