I don't know how I missed this, but Mrs. York passed back in January (the 20th). Better late than never, we can still pay our respects. Mrs. York stuck by her man in both the good times and bad, sickness and in health. Dick and Joey really embodied what marriage should be. :rip:

Queen of the Harpies

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that Joan "Joey" York passed away late last night (01/20/12). In the forward to Dick York's autobiography, Joey wrote, "Dick used to say that he was the words and I was the music. I don't have the words that he had; certainly I don't have the words to do justice to the wonderfulness that was Dick York, my husband of forty years and my life before that and after that."

Joan's health had declined over the years, and there had been rumors of her death several years ago when a storage locker filled with memorabilia was sold on eBay, but now it is confirmed.

York's autobiography was named "The Seesaw Girl and Me" in reference to Joey and chronicled the importance of his wife in the Bewitched star's life from the time they were radio voice actors as teenagers through York's rise to fame and his serious health problems and financial decline. The book is a valentine to the love and devotion Joan provided to him when she took those marriage vows "in sickness and in health" and "for richer for poorer." He was lucky to have her by his side, and for that all fans should be thankful to her.

We should also be thankful that she has released her ailing body and her spirit is soaring with her "Dickie" again, yet it is still a sad day for her friends and family. Please think good thoughts for their family during this difficult time.

I'm still looking for an online obit. Not that the folks at Harpies Bizarre aren't trustworthy, but I'd like to find an official notice.

I got a chance to speak with Joey about 10 years ago. She was very sweet and kind. She was also very grateful people remembered and loved Dick York so many years after Bewitched. She was actually not well the last few years. She will be missed.

Awesome story!! I will always cherish the thank you note I got from her after sending her a birthday card and a couple of handmade coasters. That was in 2005, I believe.

Oh, yeah - they were an example of a REAL marriage, what marriage should be. Now they are together again.

I don't appreciate your putting in a political endorsement here on this board. There are several other internet sites for political rhetoric. There are many of us (perhaps the majority of voters) who are strongly pulling for Romney/Ryan 2012.

Why are you posting this GARBAGE on the BEWITCHED Board and not all of us are pulling for Romney, we want our Social Security when we retire.

This is supposed to be a memorial thread for Dick York's wife. If you want to argue about the candidates, take it to the politics board. Besides, PrettyinPink55 uses her endorsement as part of her signature at the end of every post, as do several other members of SO. As long as people keep it at that on this board, that's fine with me.

Consider it a warning, MichaelKeith. Leave the political arguments at the politics board.
