I'll admit that I was a big fan of The Facts of Life throughout its run, and I realize that a successful TV series can be imitated . In fact, I've often been able to enjoy a TV series that was a copy of an older show .

In 1989, there was an episode of Who's The Boss where Samantha Micelli ( Alyssa Milano ) tried modeling . She visited the Carlin Agency, a modeling agency for teenage girls . This episode was a pilot for a new series, Living Dolls .

Living Dolls featured Charlene "Charlie" Brisco ( Leah Remini ), the girl from the wrong side of the tracks, Caroline Weldon ( Deborah Tucker ), the self -- centered girl, Emily Franklin ( Halle Berry ), the black girl, and Martha Lambert ( Alison Lambert ), the fourth girl . Patricia "Trish" Carlin was the owner of the Carlin Agency and the girls' substitue mother .

When I saw this episode, I thought to myself "Haven't we been all through this with The Facts of Life ?" .

Johnny be good!

It was probably intended to be different.
