Showtime Renews "Homeland" for Season 3

Showtime has ordered a third season of "Homeland", the network announced Monday. Sunday's episode of the drama drew 1.75 million viewers and was the highest-rated episode of the series.

"Homeland" also cleaned up at the Emmy Awards last month, winning six awards including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama for Damian Lewis and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama for Claire Danes.

The third season will begin production next spring and will consist of 12 episodes, according to Showtime.
