View Full Version : A sitcom character elected president of the USA
Yong Fang 10-19-2012, 12:55 PM Pick a sitcom character that you would elect President. One caveat is that the character has to be an American of age to be President.
Mine is Ron Swanson.

MY FAVORITE: My idea of a perfect government is one guy who sits in a small room at a desk, and the only thing he's allowed to decide is who to nuke. The man is chosen based on some kind of IQ test, and maybe also a physical tournament, like a decathlon. And women are brought to him, maybe...when he desires them.
That rocks.
I've been quite open about this around the office: I don't want this parks department to build any parks because I don't believe in government. I think that all government is a waste of taxpayer money. My dream is to have the park system privatized and run entirely for profit by corporations, like Chuck E. Cheese. They have an impeccable business model. I would rather work for Chuck E. Cheese.
My other choice, Jay Prichett from Modern Family.

EmoJoe 10-22-2012, 01:39 AM I'm liking the Parks & Rec theme of this thread so far. And I second Leslie Knope.
bookandfilmnut 10-23-2012, 01:46 PM Cool concept.
I think I'd vote for Colonel Potter on MASH. The character was written as someone who was an experienced leader, calm under pressure and willing to lead by example. Also down-home and honest, but well educated, too.
Potter for President!

factsoflife 10-23-2012, 07:38 PM I vote Julia Sugarbaker (Designing Women) for President with Claire Huxtable (The Cosby Show) as her Vice President.

Good choice! I think Col. Potter would make a fine President.
Yooch 10-23-2012, 09:20 PM I would also like to add the names of:
Captain Jean Luc Picard of TNG, and Dr. John Robinson, Lost in Space--Both are either scientists or commanders, but I like both their leadership style.
Neither show is a sitcom per se, more of a series, but I like both characters.

My dad had one of those buttons, and also the beer mug.

Ohh, I would totally vote for Claire Huxtable.

Guys, you're missing one obvious character.
I'm telling you, 2012 is his year. He can't miss.

This, plus the fact that he wasn't born in America, cuts out my obvious #1 choice: Alex P. Keaton.
Unfortunately I don't have a backup answer for now.
