Greetings my fellow UM fans!
I just came across an episode that “intrigued” me. It was about a young woman who was a hit & run victim. The hospital have her the name Estelle. Is there any update on her?
If someone already shared an update, sorry! I was too lazy to search
Thanks a Bunch!

The UM wiki says she was identified but there's a sad update to her case:
Estelle was identified as 32-year-old Nancy Sue McDonald by a jailer who had seen the Unsolved Mysteries broadcast. The jailer recognized her as a past inmate at the Talbot County Detention Center in Easton, Maryland. Further investigation indicated the woman had been arrested for hitchiking in Florida four days before she was found in Houston. Her stepmother was contacted soon after she was identified. She spent the remainder of her years in a nursing home in Houston, Texas. She passed away at age 49 on October 11, 2009. She was never able to communicate.

You're welcome. :)
Yes, the updated info is very sad. I was glad to find out that she was identified, but how awful that she died so young and was never able to communicate.

If you'll notice she is the one on my avatar. Her case really struck me as she came across as so child-like and sweet and yet it was so sad. Sorry to hear that she passed away. She was struck by a hit and run driver, right? I wonder if that person was ever found and convicted.

This is a really sad case. And on a side note, arrested for hitchhiking? REALLY? Perhaps if she had not been arrested (on what was such an asinine charge to begin with), this accident would never have occurred. And I really hope that the driver was found and faced justice. How awful.

The hitchhiking arrest surprised me too. I knew it was a dangerous practice but had no idea it was actually illegal in some (all?) places.

Most. I think they started passing laws due to the danger for both the hitchhiker and the potential pickups - and the distraction it is for drivers. It's not like the cases that involved hitchhiking are particularly rare/uncommon.

I had never seen the episode and I was always wondering where your avatar/pic came from. When I saw the video I remembered your avatar right away! The story before that was about an unknown male who jumped on a plane and then fell to his death. I don’t think he was ever identified either. I highly doubt (sadly) that the suspect has been found or ever will be found.

The man who fell from the plane was identified by his stepmother who saw the broadcast. It's believed he was schizophrenic. :(
