Fans still holding out hope for a third Sex and the City movie are likely to be disappointed, at least where Cynthia Nixon is concerned.
The actress, who played level-headed attorney Miranda in the HBO series and the two subsequent big-screen films, says she has no interest in revisiting the character.
Asked by The Hollywood Reporter if she is hoping for a third film, Nixon -- who stars in the World Without End miniseries, which debuts Wednesday night on ReelzChannel -- replied: "No, no. I think we had a wonderful ride. I think it's fine to let it go."
Nixon isn't the only star uninterested in another film. Her comment echoes those made last year by Chris Noth (Mr. Big).
"I don't see Sex and the City 3 happening," Noth, who now stars on "The Good Wife", told Parade magazine. "I'm not disappointed if they don't. I miss the early days before it became sort of a circus of attention, when it hadn't become this iconic thing."
Kristin Davis (Charlotte) has expressed optimism about another movie.
"I'm always hopeful and I always believe there's another story to tell because these are these women's lives so why wouldn't there be another chapter," she told E! Online last year. "But I don't know if it will happen."
Kim Cattrall (Samantha) is on the fence about it, who said last year that she wouldn't be upset if a third movie doesn't happen, even though she would be open it.
"I feel like I've let go," she told MovieWeb.com. "Whatever happens with those characters...I would love to revisit them. It's like a reunion. It's like going home. Thirteen years of your life? That is a long time to be associated with one show and one character. One family. If it happens, that would be great. But if not? It was an amazing experience."
Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie) -- who not only is the star of the franichse but also a producer -- has expressed her interest in doing a third film over the past several year or so, even saying she has a storyline in mind.
When asked last year if there was a chance for another, Parker told Parade, "There is. I know what the story is. It’s a small story, but I think it should be told. The question is, what’s the right time to tell it?"
Willie Garson (Stanford) has also said he would be interested in playing his character again in a third film, telling Huffington Post in April:
"I'm still him if they decide to make another movie."
For now, fans wanting more of Carrie Bradshaw can get their fix when The CW's prequel, "The Carrie Diaries", starring AnnaSophia Robb in the title role, premieres midseason.
