View Full Version : List 5 episodes you have no desire to watch again in syndication?
TVFactFan 10-16-2012, 12:04 PM I won't mention the Penny eps since it was a 4 parter but my five are
1. The ep with Michael and the CB Radio
2. The ep when J.H wakes up white
3. The ep when J.H friend wants to kill himself
4. The ep with the little boy who almost fell down the elevator shaft
5. The ep when the woman has a baby in the Evans apt
I refuse to watch any of those eps ever again:lol:
Brieannas21 10-16-2012, 05:12 PM Breaker, Breaker
I Had a Dream
Judy Cohen Story
Where There's Smoke
The Comedian and The Loan Shark
I could have listed a few more, but since I'm limited to only 5.

Oh yeah, that where there is smoke ep was AWFUL. That maybe my number 6:lol:
*ROGER* 10-16-2012, 06:23 PM Oh yeah, that where there is smoke ep was AWFUL. That maybe my number 6:lol:
1. ^^^ If the "where there's smoke" ep. is about when Penny burned down the Evans' sofa with a cigarette, then I'd put that one on my list.
2. I'd also put the ep. where JJ dreams that he's a white guy. That one was really DUMB.
3. And yeah, Michael with the c.b. radio was also stupid.
4. I thought the Christmas ep. where the whole Evans gang goes to a party at the cab company that Keith worked at was pretty lame. Michael does some singing in that episode and it is AWFUL.
5. I never saw the ep. where a lady has a baby in the Evans' apartment. I'm guessing it was a later, more stupid episode?
Oh, I thought of another lame one....where Thelma gets engaged to that African guy Ebby. She finds out she wouldn't be his one and only wife like Florida predicted.

The ep when the lady has a baby is the one when James is working out of Town. Her name was Loretta
DJM77 10-16-2012, 06:47 PM 3. The ep when J.J. friend wants to kill himself
I don't remember that one. What's the name of it and what season is it from?
TVFactFan 10-16-2012, 06:48 PM I don't remember that one. What's the name of it and what season is it from?
Season 4, "A friend in Need"
*ROGER* 10-16-2012, 07:06 PM I don't remember that one. What's the name of it and what season is it from?
I don't remember that one either. I can't believe I missed it. And it was an episode from when James was still alive. I thought I saw all of those ones.

No james was dead, when j.j was trying to talk him out of killing himself he mentioned his dad
*ROGER* 10-16-2012, 07:31 PM No james was dead, when j.j was trying to talk him out of killing himself he mentioned his dad
OK, I did see the suicide episode. I remember JJ talking about his dad. I think I was getting mixed up with the lady having a baby episode. I never saw the baby episode.

The baby episode involved the woman who had the baby not wanting to keep it and planned to put it up for adoption. Then Willona purposely showed her the baby when it came out and the lady changed her mind

Some babies are better off being put up for adoption. Like Penny was better off being adopted by Wilona rather than being stuck with her abusive bio mom. Anyhow, I suppose I didn't miss much of an exciting episode. It doesn't sound like it would appeal to me too much.
DJM77 10-16-2012, 09:13 PM Season 4, "A friend in Need"
Okay, I just watched some of it on you tube. I think I've seen it before.
magellan333 10-21-2012, 10:36 PM Sorry, don't know their titles, just summaries.
1.) Keith is a drunk.
2.) The never again seen or spoken of cousin is a drunk.
3.) Papa Evans gets married in the Evans apartment. Could they not use the room they had Wanda's party in?
4.) Penny's momma returns and frames Wilona.
5.) Saving Wanda's apartment. Michael's song was pitched as some kind of hit, but it was nothing but mediocre.

Wow you don't want to see the ep ever again which is Amos last appearance? LOL
magellan333 03-03-2013, 08:50 PM Wow you don't want to see the ep ever again which is Amos last appearance? LOL Haha, another reason I don't like the episode, I know the best ones are over and won't be shown again for a while!

Yeah that is also the sad part of that episode knowing that the Amos-less era is about to start lol
Sonny Carson 03-05-2013, 10:00 PM 1. "The Border"
2. "The Judy Cohen Story"
3. "Breaker Breaker"

I actually like the Boarder:lol:
Sonny Carson 03-06-2013, 03:18 PM I actually like the Boarder:lol:
I thought most of the jokes fell flat as a board and Mr. Dunbar was annoying. It's also one of the only episodes not up on Youtube. People are talking about the 'Where There Is Smoke" episode but the Border is really much worse!

Tap Dancer 10-16-2013, 10:19 AM 2. The ep when J.H wakes up white
That was horrid.
I didn't mind the 4 part episode with Penny and her abusive mother, but I didn't like Penny very much. She was around way too much. I hated Keith...everything about him! If he comes on the screen, I have to change the channel. I'll watch some of the episodes after John Amos left, but there weren't many good ones. :(

Svenfan1234 08-01-2016, 10:27 PM 1. Junior the Senior
2. I Had A Dream
3. The Family Business
4. Rich Is Better Than Poor...Maybe?
5. The Comedian and the Loan Shark

Agree about The Comedian and The Loan Shark and I Had A Dream, but not the other three. I can see why some wouldn't like Junior The Senior, it gives off kind of a bad stereotype but at least J.J. does graduate from High School and does better for himself later. The Family Business is funny to me because it has one of my favorite lines by James too Bookman, "What you doin here, We outta biscuits balloon belly"!

Dave_L 08-14-2016, 09:37 PM 1. The Comedian and the Loan Sharks - Suddenly J.J. wants to be the talent agent of the ghetto? Stick to painting. Boring episode.
2. The Judy Cohen Story - Another boring "J.J. the Wannabe Agent" episode. I'm glad there were only 2 of them.
3. J.J. and T.C. - A lot of times this one runs out of order in syndication. But even if it's shown in order, it's a rather boring show about J.J. finally noticing T.C. And this is quickly forgotten since in the final episode he plans to get his own place to be with 3 women, none of whom are T.C. So an episode near the end of the series about them starting a relationship that isn't mentioned again was a waste of time.
4. J.J. the Teacher - Guest star Hal Williams plays a would-be tough guy who spends the whole show threatening to beat his grown son just for taking art lessons. Ridiculous.
5. The Evans' Dilemma - Keith gets drunk and hits Thelma, and J.J. and Michael look like they couldn't care less. (And Keith was apparently sober enough to know not to try that crap when Florida is around. She's not in this episode.) Ghost James should have risen up from the grave and beat that drunken loser down. Thelma got some payback at the end, but I hate watching knowing that her brothers won't do a thing to help her.

I actually like J.J. The Teacher because there really are parents like Hal Williams character. Especially in the black community there are parents who feel if "my son isn't playing ball or rapping(today's parents) he won't make it in life".
Dave_L 08-14-2016, 10:11 PM Sonny, that makes sense. I think you're right about the realism of that kind of character. I'd say that for me the episode isn't so much an awful one as it is just one I don't enjoy enough to want to revisit very often. So I'll usually skip that one (and the other 4 I listed) when I rewatch my DVDs of the series.
Oddly enough, I will rewatch the "I Had a Dream" episode sometimes. It's a mess, but there's such a WTF element to it. It's as though the writers thought, "Our 2 respected lead actors quit, viewers are tuning out, let's just go crazy this week and see if anyone notices." Like a car wreck on the highway, you can't not look. :)
ChicagoGuy 01-22-2017, 01:07 AM Any episode after James left. Any episode where Florida is the bus driver. Ridiculous episode where Thelma gets engaged to that African dude (Ebay, ha!) and dresses like a fool.

My favorite episode for season 6 is House Hunting because it was no Penny
Just all the adults talking about moving and them trying to buy a house
MsIris 09-24-2017, 01:43 PM The only episode I couldn't stand was the Judy Cohen one. Well, I take that back. The one where Willona is watching people undress behind the 2-way mirror in the department store is pretty bad, too.
EccentricGenius 10-11-2017, 03:44 PM Here is my personal list of the five episodes of "Good Times" I have no desire to watch ever again:
1) "The Judy Cohen Story" (season four)
2) "The Comedian and the Loan Sharks" (season four)
3) "I Had A Dream" (season five)
4) "Where There's Smoke" (season five)
5) "The Snowstorm" (season six)
Enjoy!
TVFactFan 10-11-2017, 07:48 PM I can't watch this show at all in syndication. Lost interest
2002-2017

Her role in that episode was small
