It was strictly an economic move. They didn't want to keep the actress (Joan Shawlee) on the payroll. Although she was in it so infrequently anyway, I don't see how she was on any kind of payroll. She could have still made infrequent "guest" appearances a la Herman Glimsher, Mrs. Billings, Stace Petrie, Sol the Army buddy, etc.

Yeah, she didn't need to be a regular or anything, but she could have easily been in more. It's to bad because she was funny with Buddy and the excact opposite of Laura in almost every way. Could have made for some funny situations. Payroll is lame-lol

Were Rose Marie and Moiry Amsterdam lovers, or just close friends? I remember seeing them together a lot outside of the show.

Rose Marie and Morey certainly had great chemistry together as actors and worked together on other shows besides TDVDS but I've never heard anything regarding them having any kind of personal relationship.

besides, Rose was married and I know she was happy becuse she was very saddened when her husband died. In fact I think she was think about not doing the last season of the show because she was so upset.
