On the first episode of Season Six, Lucy Meets the Berles, has anyone noticed The Berles' kitchen, (where Lucy is making lunch) is the same set that would become the Carter kitchen on Here's Lucy, premiering the next season?

There are similarities, but it's not the same set. This is the Here's Lucy kitchen:

And this is the kitchen from "Lucy Meets the Berles" on The Lucy Show:

Wow! Thanx for posting the 2 kitchens. I could have sworn they were the same set. I think it was the second staircase (into the kitchen) and the similar windows with knick-knacks, that threw me.

Well it seems like the Carter kitchen was some-what patterned after the Berle kitchen, from the year prior.

I can see why you would think that. That's what I thought the first time I saw that kitchen in the Berle episode. There definitely are striking similarities in the layout of the set: pane glass window to the left (which looks very similar), L-type staircase near the middle, swinging door on the right, kitchen island in the middle. I think the Here's Lucy kitchen is bigger and more elaborate (e.g., more cupboards and cabinets, and door leading out to the patio), but it wouldn't surprise me if it was designed with this "Berle" kitchen in mind. But imagine that: Lucy Carter had a bigger kitchen than Milton Berle!

I often wonder what the late Mr. Carter's occupation was, to have left his wife and kids a home that elaborate! Particularly the huge kitchen, with a second staircase, in a house in a pretty nice neighborhood in the Los Angeles area! Lucy couldn't afford that house, alone on an office secretary's salary.

Yeah, I've wondered the same thing. I assumed her husband must have had a good job and the house was paid for, but then I remember a reference made in one episode -- I can't remember which one -- that suggested Lucy was paying a mortgage. So much for that. Perhaps when she bought the house she concocted a "Lucy" scheme where she was able to convince the seller to sell it to her way, way below value. :) For example, perhaps the seller was a lecherous married politician and she (with Kim and Craig's assistance) broke into his house one weekend when his wife was away so that they could take a picture of him cheating on his wife and then blackmail him with the picture.
