For anyone that isn't aware, there is a new book out about Rick
http://www.amazon.com/Rick-Nelson-Rock-Roll-Pioneer/dp/0786460601/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1350003763&sr=8-1&keywords=rick+nelson+rock+and+roll+pioneer

I ordered quite some time ago, but it was on back order and I only recently received it. So far it is fabulous! The author interviewed MANY people including Kris Nelson (the only book about Rick she has participated in) and Connie Harper Nelson. It has never before published photos as well.

It focuses on Rick's music, and is truly and well informed and intimate read. It's a must for all of his fans.

In addition, the author is trying to put together a photo book about Rick. She is looking for any high resolution photos anyone might have from seeing Rick in concert.

If anyone has any they would like to share, just let me know, I can put you in touch with the author :)

Good to know there's a positive book written about Ricky. Thanks for the heads up!

From what I understand Kris was a real nasty head case so I can't imagine she said anything positive about Rick. IMO, you never ask the ex about anything! I will have to check this book out though because I'm a fan of Rick's and would like to see more photos of him and read more about the intimate details of his life and how he felt as a kid growing up and working with his family and becoming so popular. Thanks for the info.

It's my understanding that Kris has mellowed and is done with any bitterness she had back then.

She didn't have anything bad to say about Rick in this book, and she shared quite a few never seen before photos from her personal collection.

Also, the author is working on getting together a photo book of Rick, including publicity photos, concert shots, etc. I'll let you guys know if she's able to get a publisher. She already has quite a few photos collected :)

This is a real surprise. In the past, anytime I'd see interviews with Kris, she wanted to blame Rick for everything that went wrong in the family. David was not fond of her at all. Wonder if they reconciled before his passing?

I liked a few of his songs. I might read it eventually.

According to some fans, David called her a murderer at Rick's funeral. Mainly because he was touring so heavily to pay child support. It is also reported she hit Tracy with her purse at the funeral. I wonder what that was about.

Yes, I've heard that David called Kris a 'murderess' at Rick's funeral AND that she struck her poor daughter Tracy at the funeral (that the younger woman had had to organize at a moment's notice) when Kris found out that Rick's will specifically had disinherited Kris while providing for Tracy and her brothers!

However, it's interesting to note that after that horrible day, Harriet backed Kris in wanting to regain custody of her youngest son Sam while Kris's own parents backed her brother Mark- and Sam has said that Kris and David DID become civil in their later years. Also, evidently Tracy herself did make her peace with Kris by the end (along with her brothers who were on strained terms for some time with their mother).
