Ian McShane has joined the long list of stars heading to "American Horror Story: Asylum".

The "Deadwood" alum has landed a role on the second season of the anthology series, as first announced by series co-creator Ryan Murphy on Wednesday.

Details on his role were unavailable, but Murphy noted on Twitter that the Golden Globe winner will "tussle" with Jessica Lange's Sister Jude, one of the nuns who runs the insane asylum at Briarcliff Manor.

"American Horror Story: Asylum" premieres Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 10/9c on FX.

Sounds good, I'm guessing he will play a menacing character since he is so good at it.

Ian McShane is swinging by "American Horror Story: Asylum" as a not-so-jolly Santa Claus for a very Briarcliff Christmas. HuffPost TV has the exclusive first look at the Golden Globe winner's apperance.

In the episode, titled 'Unholy Night' (Wed., Dec. 5 at 10 p.m. EST on FX), McShane will play a bloodthirsty St. Nick who wreaks havoc at the asylum.
