"Grey's Anatomy" Adds Neve Campbell as Derek's Sister

"Grey's Anatomy" is adding another Shepherd.

The ABC medical drama has enlisted Scream star Neve Campbell as one of Derek's sisters, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

As first reported by TV Line, Campbell will join the ninth season of Shonda Rhimes' Seattle-set drama as a sibling to Patrick Dempsey's Dr. Derek Shepherd, appearing in two episodes currently slated for December.



It's not clear which of Derek's four sisters Campbell will play -- either the as-yet-unseen Kathleen or the mysterious unnamed fourth sibling.

Caterina Scorsone plays Amelia Shepherd on ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff "Private Practice" and Embeth Davitz previously appeared as his sister, Nancy.



Campbell joins the series as Derek is recouperating from the deadly plane crash that claimed the lives of his best friend Mark (Eric Dane) and sister-in-law Lexie (Chyler Leigh).

"Grey's Anatomy" returns next week at 9 p.m. on ABC.

Neve Campbell is coming to Seattle Grace!

The Scream alum will check into "Grey's Anatomy" starting Thursday, Dec. 6, and TVGuide.com has a first look at her arrival. Campbell, who co-starred alongside Patrick Dempsey in Scream 3, will play his sister on Grey's. But which sister?



We've already met Derek's sisters Nancy (Embeth Davitz) and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone), while another sister named Kathleen, a psychiatrist, has been mentioned. But TVGuide.com has learned Campbell is actually playing his fourth sister, Liz "Lizzie" Shepherd.

Her arrival comes as Derek has turned to teaching after his hand was mangled in last season's plane crash. Could Lizzie be arriving to help? We know Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) will enlist Heather (Tina Majorino) to go above and beyond to help fix Derek's hand and they are together in the photo below.
