Lucy Carmichael has returned one last time for The Lucy Show - The Official Sixth and Final Season! The four disc set completes Lucy's second major series for CBS with 24 more episodes featuring guest stars such as Milton Berle, Joan Crawford, Carol Burnett, Jack Benny, and more.

Although this was the last season with Lucille Ball and Gale Gordon for this series, it wasn't their last season together ever. The following season, a new (and almost identical) series was introduced on CBS called Here's Lucy, which went on to last another six seasons. But these 24 episodes do mark a major milestone, as this season takes us through the end of the Desilu empire, one which began about a decade and a half earlier with I Love Lucy and cranked out hit after hit in those first two decades of television. In fact, you'll even notice throughout this season that the production studio actually changes midseason from Desilu to Paramount. But before Lucy's Desilu days fully fade into the sunset, we have these 24 episodes to enjoy.

Yeah, I think they have the original Paramount logo at the end. I've never bought this DVD yet, I'm not sure, I think it's on the vintage closings or just both on the vintage closings and at the end of the last few episodes.

I have season 6 on order and should have it soon. Will be good to have this series complete on DVD. I'm not interested to have I Love Lucy on DVD, Here's Lucy is so-so, some episodes are funny but overall The Lucy Show is better. I might eventually decide to get Here's Lucy on DVD once all 6 seasons are available.

I received the 6th season DVD a few days ago. Like all Lucy Show seasons, some episodes are funnier than others. One episode I like is Lucy Gets Trapped, it's a funny episode and it has some good visual gags as well.

What I like best about The Lucy Show is the way it was photographed, the sets they used are very pleasing to the eye, everything has that classy 1960's look. Even the episodes that aren't as funny, I watch those anyway just to enjoy the visuals. All things considered, the 60's was the best decade for TV, no doubt about that.

The end of the episode Lucy Gets Her Diploma is interesting when Lucy gives her sermon about the importance of education. In the late 1960's the hippie movement was in high gear, kids were protesting, dropping out of school and becoming flower children. Lucy likely didn't like the choices some kids were making at the time and she wanted to say something about it.

I fully agree. In the era of eye-pleasing, well-designed, well-lit sets for nearly all television productions, The Lucy Show was one of the best. Attention to practical detail by skilled craftsman is very much a thing of the past in both film and television. Reason #196 why modern TV is mostly crap.

You are so correct about that! I hadn't really given that much thought, but I do find myself enjoying the sets and the colors. There are certain ones I particularly like, including Lucy Carmichael's apartment, and also, in season six, Mr. Mooney's den with that lush and colorful view through the doors, and Milton Berle's kitchen. Another that stands out in my mind is "Johnny's" apartment from the 2nd season episode, "Lucy Goes to Art Class."

The Lucy Show was one of the most attractively filmed sitcoms of the 60's, CBS likely gave it a high budget so the set designers went all out to create great looking sets.

The Fedderson shows My Three Sons and Family Affair were also attractively filmed, 1960's style, classy looking sets.

I've noticed some episodes use the season 5 theme music to the season 6 visuals and also some episodes omit the "co-starring Gale Gordon" announcement even when Gale was IN the episode...lol.
