View Full Version : The Sunday Showcase on ME-TV
mets82 10-08-2012, 10:10 PM What do you guys think of it? On Sept. 30, they showed episodes of "The Beverly Hillbillies"Yesterday, they showed episodes of "The Millonaire." I had never heard of the show but I watched a couple of episodes and its a good show.
Every week from 3-7pm, they have shown different shows every Sunday. Yesterday it was "The Millionaire." Next week, it will be "Ironside." The week after that it will be a selection of shows and they are only showing one episode."Mary Tyler Moore Show", "The Dick Van Dyke Show" ,"That Girl", "Family Affair", "The Beverly Hillbillies", "The Odd Couple", "Car 54, Where are You?", and "The Rifleman" are the shows for two weeks from yesterday.
The following week, they have not announced it. So have you watched it and if you did what did you think?
Mr. Television 10-08-2012, 10:46 PM I wish I could get it but my affiliate doesn't have Me-TV programming on Sundays. I always wanted to see The Millionaire too.
mets82 12-09-2012, 10:14 PM I wonder how long this Sunday Showcase will last. I know its scheduled for 2013 but how long into 2013? They've shown The Little Rascals, today it was The Lone Ranger and next week Lassie. I give ME-TV an A for effort for actually showing shows that have not been on the air in years.

I'm hoping they keep it forever. Let's face it, the people affiliated with productions this far in the past are starting to pass away at a pretty rapid rate. It makes a lot of sense to have a pre-determined slot instead of upsetting the schedule every time they want to air a tribute of sorts. And in the meantime they have the flexibility to air miscellaneous programming, the rarer stuff, or whatever they feel like.
I must admit I was pretty down on this Sunday Showcase after the first few weeks when they had dull arbitrary themes and cherry-picked episodes from shows already highly exposed on the network. But MeTV has apparently made good on their word to air rarities and some genuinely interesting stuff. I too will give them an A for effort.
biffbronson 12-11-2012, 07:21 AM Some of the other themes they've had:
> Movies based on sitcoms, including The Munsters film (color)
> Night Gallery marathon
> Burke's Law marathon
> Wagon Train marathon (including Annette Funicello)
Coffeecup 12-18-2012, 12:10 PM Yes, I love it. I did see Millionaire a few weeks ago and this past Sunday saw a bit of Lassie, which I hadn't seen it years. Me Tv is doing a wonderful job at digging out old shows. I get the impression that these Sunday afternoon shows could make a regular showing. I do think that after a 2 year run of one show, they could put a new one on. More shows to see. It is wonderful network and I am glad I can see it.
treky 12-19-2012, 01:09 AM yes, they are a great channel (also ANTENNA TV) and fortunately my local affiliate carries the ENTIRE schedule!
After 20 years, someone got so fed up with TV LAND, they decided to do something about it:)
biffbronson 01-06-2013, 08:58 AM They've since had a tribute afternoon for some of the sitcom stars who passed away over the last year (Klugman, Hagman, Grady, Morgan,...). When they showed a Morgan ep of M*A*S*H, and followed Columbo later that night with a M*A*S*H -- along with their regular 2 eps on Sunday -- that made for 4 episodes of M*A*S*H shown over just 3 and 1/2 hours...!
On tap for today (1/6) is The Saint (Roger Moore) as I've posted elsewhere.
mets82 01-06-2013, 03:16 PM When was the Klugman tribute? I must have missed that.

Last weekend (Along with Hagman, Morgan, etc.).
biffbronson 01-08-2013, 12:41 PM Yes -- sorry that I may have given the impression a whole afternoon was devoted to Klugman.
This coming Sunday will be Laurel & Hardy.
MRPITT 01-08-2013, 01:12 PM On the 20th they are showing The Loretta Young Show in the showcase.
biffbronson 01-08-2013, 08:51 PM That's interesting -- on Christmas Eve (or very early Christmas morning) they had shown Loretta Young episodes too. Thanks for the info.
LeeBlue 01-10-2013, 11:14 PM I've only been receiving ME-TV for a few weeks and have been enjoying the channel very much.. Since TVLand went downhill, there's been a void for classic TV shows.
..
Ironside was a lot of fun to watch after so long off the air.
..
And I'm looking forward to more Sundays with ME-TV!
