Danny DeVito, Rhea Perlman Are Separating

Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman are separating after more than 30 years of marriage, their rep confirms to TVGuide.com.

DeVito and Perlman played a couple on the TV show "Taxi", and also co-starred in the 1996 film adaptation of Roald Dahl's Matilda.

They also co-founded the entertainment company Jersey Group, whose film division has produced titles including Pulp Fiction, Garden State and Erin Brockovich.





Perlman previously starred in "Cheers" and has recently made guest appearances on "Hung" and "Wilfred".

DeVito is currently starring in "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia".

The couple have three adult children — Lucy, 29; Grace, 27 and Jacob, 24.

Yeah, many Hollywood couples that split, its no real surprise, but this one is kind of a shock!:eek:

apparently they were together for 12 years before they got married as well - it just seems so strange to think that a couple could be together for 42 years and then suddenly split-up, but who knows :shrug:

I'm so sorry to hear this - and SHOCKED!! They seemed to be the real thing for a long time. :(

This is so heartbreaking! Especially because just a few weeks ago I was watching an old video that they were in and they were dancing and they just looked so good and happy. But then again... Hollywood.

Sad to see an end to such an iconic couple, but I suppose all good things must come to an end, as they say.

Perhaps it's not totally over between Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman after all.

The pair, married for 30 years and one of Hollywood's most enduring couples, separated this fall. But DeVito, 67, now says it's not that simple.



"We're working on it," the "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" actor says of his marriage in an interview with "Extra".

Asked how he's adjusting to single life, DeVito replied: "It's not something you adjust to. Rhea and I are really close. Actually, still together – just separate, but together."

That's good to hear. I hope they will be able to reconcile. There still seems to be a lot of love there. God bless them!!

I might have said this here before, but Danny DeVito to me is an inspiration.

Here is a guy who is 5 foot nothing, balding, not handsome, with a think Brooklyn New York accent and not only did he make it in Hollywood, he is an "A" Lister and very wealthy. This to me is someone who refused to quit on himself and made the most of his talents. He was the breakout star in "Taxi" who made it in movies.

I more or less think of Rhea Pearlman much the same way. No offense please, but one does not have to be 6 foot, dark and handsome to make it. Sometimes the 5 foot, homely people surprises you.

I really hope that they can work things out!! I've loved them together ever since I was little.

After four-ish months apart, Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman have decided to end their separation.

A friend of the couple tells People, “They love each other. Always have and always will.”



DeVito and Perlman dated for 11 years before marrying in 1982.

They have three children together: Lucy, 30, Grace, 27, and Daniel, 25.
