TV Guide reports that the show lost many young viewers due to dancers being on the show that was on there before. My mom mentioned that Emmit Smith returned as one of the dancers and I guess the show lost some of it's appeal

I guess old faces would do that:lol:

I'm surprised the show ever had young viewers. The whole concept of the show seems very dated, like something you would have seen in the 60's or 70's. I could never get into it, but my mom loves it.

My 80 year old Aunt watches it every week. She can't get enough.

We had some of that in the UK with some dancers who were on the Christmas specials returning for the main series, which is called "Strictly Come Dancing" here, though with the same format and two of the same judges,Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli.

I read that DWTS fans asked for an all-star version -- maybe the producers invited back the wrong stars????

I fail to see how Bristol Palin is considered an "all-star." Then again, I've never really cared for DWTS that much myself, so what do I know?

I think the format has got a little too staid,a little too predictable.

It was for years in the top 10 in adults 18-49 and always a top show in total viewers (top 2 or top 3 behind NFL and Idol). It's not just ballroom dances...there have been very raunchy Latin dances. It's pure entertainment and just fun. Plus Tom Bergeron is the best in the business in hosting... he has been good since Hollywood Squares days.

Hopefully the next cycle when there are new celebrities, it goes back up. I prefer this to the singing shows where there are no celebs competing. Adding in people you know makes it familiar. I couldn't care less for shows like Idol, The Voice, Duets, Got Talent, X Factor, SYTYCD, etc.

But how many more dances can you do that viewers haven't seen before?

All of the dances are different and choreographed differently. The celebs make the show and seeing them learn and progress throughout the season. Maybe that's why the all-star edition isn't working as well.

DWTS is going to be tanking more in the ratings NOW!! There's something very wrong that, that Bristol Palin has been saved over 4 people now!! Pamela Anderson was not a surprise, but now 2 former champs--Helio and Drew have been sent home, over Bristol!!

It is not fair that a daughter of a political figure and former Vice-Presidential candidate, whose only claim of fame is that she was pregnant when she was in high-school during the 2008 Campaign, and she starred in a FAILED reality show, because she obviously is not interesting! Also the mere fact that she's a contestant during an election year, that's just wrong!!!! Obviously, people are voting for this girl, this time and in 2010, to show support for her mother. If people were supportive of Bristol herself, why didn't more of them support her reality show that didn't even reach the million mark in the Nielsons.

Now somebody's just going to say I'm posting this, just because I'm a Liberal. Well-- I would feel the same way if this was Mehgan McCain, Chelsea Clinton, one of The Bush twins, Caroline Kennedy, or one of the Obama girls.

There already was some "kook" in Minnesota, who shot his TV, in disgust over Palin continuing to be saved in 2010, as well as someone sending "white powder" to the studio, both seasons, as a threat.

I certainly am not condoning "threatning behavior", but is it all that much of a shock, that people are doing these things?

Anyways, There seems to be something very shady going on here, and the producers of DWTS and the ABC network exec's need to wake up, soon, or this show is going to be damaged beyond return!!!

Well that can be another reason the show is losing viewers

markway895, that won't cause the ratings to drop. Bristol went all the way to the finals in her original season and others deserved to be there more than her as well then, too. But the ratings didn't drop then either.

And that some of the "stars" already had some dancing experience, like Jennifer Grey and one contestant that I think was a Cheetah Girl. I've heard some viewers say that they would enjoy the show more if all the contestants had no dancing experience at all so they wouldn't have an edge over the others.

We're having that debate here in England right now. Denise Van Outen went to theatre school and has had some dance experience, though she claims it wasn't formal dance training. The problem would come in where you draw the line;we also have on the show an Olympic gymnast who presumably would have an innate advantage over a fat, old, balding comedian..

Maybe its time to cut it back to 1 season a year instead of 2, which they now have in the fall AND the spring.

I noticed that "Dancing with the Stars" was mentioned on two ABC shows tonight

APT23 at 9:30pm which was a DWTS ep

Private Practice at 10pm....Someone mentioned Dancing with the stars

I;m guessing it was mentioned on the other ABC shows too from 8pm to 9pm so the ratings can go up for the shows:lol:

the best thing is to stop the show for a while that will really work as it is just loosing TRP and viewers are just getting bored by looking up at this series....

That's a good idea. It's only on once in the UK around Christmas time and does attract high ratings.

Strictly Come Dancing has resurged with four knowledgeable judges and a more varied format. It's family viewing, but when a lady from Nebraska's at a party in Alaska she must never do a tango with an Eskimo..http://youtu.be/mGi8qPtsH3Q
