Movie Reviews: Taken 2
Most critics are clearly not taken with Taken 2. Some, in fact, are downright derisive.
Peter Howell in the Toronto Globe and Mail writes:
“There’s no need to wait for the MAD Magazine parody of Taken 2. It’s already hilariously up there on the screen.”
Wesley Morris in the Boston Globe is a little kinder, but not much.
“It’s a stupid movie by smart people who aren’t smart enough to realize it’s stupid. The absurdity grows like mold in the dank, dark of seriousness.”
John Anderson remarks in the Wall Street Journal:
“It’s an interesting thing about Hollywood, if something works, copy it slavishly, right down to the flaws.”
Kenneth Turan in the Los Angeles Times says:
“it's pretty much the same story all over again.”
But Roger Ebert in the Chicago Sun-Times says the film delivers:
“slick, professional action by a cast that is uniformly capable and dead serious.”
Claudia Puig in USA Today makes a similar call.
The film she says is “a serviceable action flick.”
