Hi everyone,
I'm new here at SitcomsOnline so please make me feel welcome.
27 years ago this Fall, "Growing Pains" made its debut on the ABC Television Network on September 24, 1985 at 8 P.M. after "Who's the Boss?"
In honor of this momentous occasion, feel free to share with me your favorite "Growing Pains" episodes.
One of my favorites is the episode where Dr. Seaver confronts a female classmate of his teenage son Mike after she tells him of her intent to kill herself to join her mother in the afterlife; the episode: "Reason to Live."
Speaking of Suicide, one "Growing Pains" regular, Andrew Koenig, took his own life on February 25, 2010, a week after being last seen alive on February 14; that fateful afternoon, Andrew's father, Walter, with his mother Judy by his side, made a tearful announcement I believe NO parent should EVER have to make, even if their child is long grown: "My son took his own life."
Granted, I'm not one to condone Suicide, but I DO understand how it feels to make such a drastic decision, considering my very own Suicide attempt.
How did the Suicide attempt take place, you ask? By hanging my right foot onto telephone wires at my childhood residence--escaping unharmed, thank God, but breaking the wires apart by accident.
And the reason was because people made such a monkey out of me for most of my life that I personally got tired of it.
Anyway, folks, Suicide is NOTHING to joke about, so if you KNOW someone who IS contemplating Suicide, PLEASE talk to them about WHY they want to kill themselves and WHY they WANT to make this VERY DRASTIC decision.
