I've been reading through pages for this board for the past few days; I'm sure there's a thread I'm missing on this topic. If so, please forgive me and point me on my merry way :p
I can't remember any names, but there were quite a few stories of children finding evidence their parents weren't who they said they were or older people dying and neighbors/whomever finding out this person has millions but no family can be found or the person's real identity is a mystery.
Anyone have updates on these types of stories?
I can only specifically remember a man looking into his dad's past. Dad had claimed to be in the military and had all the memorabilia, but none of it matched his name when the son inquired? He thought his dad might have been a medic of some sort because of his actions when his mom cut her hand badly cleaning the blinds...
No idea why that is the one that's stuck with me. I'm trying to think of more...having a hard time distinguishing between UM eps and books I've read, lol.

Welcome! I do remember some of those type cases but am not sure of their outcome or if UM even mentioned an update. The first one that came to mind was Alex Cooper. He lived in Canada with his wife and several grown children and grandchildren and his daughter and son-in-law came across his abandoned car one day while on their way to go shop. They thought maybe he had had a heart attack and fell in (his car was close to water and he enjoyed fishing) or feared he met with foul play. When the story aired someone reported they had seen him and he was soon found alive and well. Come to find out years ago he was accused of a robbery (he says he didn't commit) and fearing going to jail while innocent he changed his name and moved. He never bothered to tell wife this the whole time they were married. I'm sure there had to be some bitterness and sense of betrayal for everything he put them through and looking for him for the 2 years or so he was gone but they seem to willing to accept him back and work on moving forward.

I remember this one real well, but like you I can't remember the names. Obviously, I love a good mystery and these are some of my favorites. Would love an update on this one too.
There is also the one(again- forget the name) of the young woman who became convinced her parents weren't really her bio parents as they were older and constanly moved and were very secretive. She found out by the time she was born that her mother had already had a hysterectomy yet no one in the family would talk to her about it. I believe she has a Facebook page....

The case taman was thinking of is Bob Coleman, who was searching for information about his father Richard, who nobody knew anything about him before he met Bob's mother in the 40s. After decades of searching, Bob finally learned (I don't know if a viewer helped or not) that his father had another wife and children that he abandoned years before Bob was born. Bob and his sister were then put in contact and reunited with Richard's family and their half-siblings.
The case you're thinking about is Monica Libao, who believes that her parents may have kidnapped her when she was a baby, but sadly, her case remains unsolved. :(

Unsolved, you are good! These cases stick with me because I can't imagine having lived my whole life as someone I'm not. It blows my mind that these people can live an entire life and no one, not one person - know who they really are.
RE Monica - how devastating to not only not have physical proof your parents aren't your parents, but have your entire family deny anything is strange.
Do you remember any others, unsolved?
And obviously, my user name...it's the case I am obsessed with. How can people just not ever be claimed, especially when they have so many identifiables?! Crazy world.
