Sad news to report from the music world: Legendary singer Andy Williams died Tuesday night.

His rep tells Lifeline Live that Williams passed away after a year-long battle with bladder cancer. He was 84.

Williams, who was one of the most popular vocalists of the 1960s as well as an avid golfer, died at home in Branson, Mo., where he owns the Moon River Theatre. Moon River -- by Johnny Mercer and Henry Mancini -- was one of Williams' signature songs. On Twitter, fans are saying farewell to our "huckleberry friend."

Williams was also well-known in the 1970s and '80s for his Christmas television specials. Known for his affable, easy-going personality, he hosted the Grammys, the Golden Globes and the People's Choice Awards numerous times.

The crooner is survived by his wife, Debbie, and his three children, Robert, Noelle and Christian. Williams had the children with French-born dancer Claudine Longet. They divorced in 1975 and the following year she was charged with fatally shooting her boyfriend, alpine ski racer Spider Sabich in Aspen. Williams made headlines as he stood by her side throughout the public trial. He married Debbie Meyer in 1991.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network.

One of the greatest singers ever. I thought he would beat the cancer and they made it sound like he would when they reported on him earlier this year.

R.I.P. Andy

R.I.P. Andy. I loved watching his Christmas specials when I was a kid. What a voice he had. :(

Andy generously used his variety show to give other acts their first big break in show business. The most notable perhaps being "The Osmonds". :rip: Andy Williams

I wonder if Donnie and Marie Osmond will be at their funeral?

Andy was just at awards show a couple years ago and looked fine. I think he even performed at his theater last Xmas so I wonder what happened that fast?

So very sad to hear of Andy's passing. It simply isn't Christmas for me without listening to his music, in particular his haunting rendition of "O Holy Night"... :(

True but I prefer "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year". He was know for that at his Branson show.

Andy Williams was a great singer. My favorite songs of his were:
Moon River and his version of Born Free. One of the greats, who could
be himself and not be affected by turbulent times. A golden voice for
a golden guy. RIP Andy Williams, glad that I got to enjoy your talent.

When I think of Andy Willaims, I think of Christmas TV specials. My mom loved him. He did have a great voice, and seems to have been a true gentleman (the kind you don't see much of anymore).

I absolutely love Andy Williams Christmas music. I used to hear it all the time over the PA when I worked at JC Penney and at first I found it corny, but I was amazed at how much it grew on me. Definitely will have to invest in a CD of his Christmas music.

Can't believe all the giants of entertainment we've lost this year. :(

Both Christmas and New Year's are going to be sadder with Andy Williams and Dick Clark both gone now. The Andy Williams Christmas Album has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid in the 70's. Starting this year, every play of the Lp will be dedicated to the memory of Andy.

Hopefully, his variety show will come out on DVD someday for nostalgists like me to go back to a more innocent time and place. And I third the motion from the above post for TV to rerun his great Christmas specials (uncut, of course).

My condolences to the Williams family during this sad time as well as the Osmonds, for they too have lost a patriarch.

I wonder what Andy's Moon River theater will do for the holiday season this year?

My mom got an Andy Williams record by accident at a variety store when she was a teen and my aunt and uncle and my mom would spend their allowances buying records. Anyway my mom was listening to Andy Williams and she liked his songs and so my aunt ended up borrowing the record and kept it. It is a shock that Andy Williams is no longer living because he had a awesome talent on songs such as Moon River and Canadian Sunset and nowadays you cannot find another singer with a talented voice like Andy's. My favorite song was It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year and ever since I heard it in a Staples commercial it's my favorite holiday song. What's also shocking is that It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year is also Hawkeye's anthem and i'm sure this song will introduce Marvel fans to Andy's music
