As Cliff Claven would say, "Here's a little known fact for ya, Sammy":

Did you know that today's date is what's known as a Palindrome?
A Palindrome is a string of numbers, words, or sentences that read the same forward or backwards. If your name is "Bob", then your name is a palindrome.

Look closely at the calendar today, then look at it backwards. In either direction, today's date is 2-02-02.

A palindrome year such as 2002 usually happens every 110 years, however, the last palindrome year occurred in 1991. Having two palindrome years so close together happens only once every 1000 years or so.

Examples of sentences that are palindromes:

"Rise to vote, sir"

"Able was I, I saw Elba".

No, cos that's 09 09 99. It's not the same backwards and forwards.

No, 09-09-99 doesn't count because reversed it would be 99-09-09

I see even Mossopp was fooled before she edited her thread, I saw that Mossopp! :)

If you write the date as 2-02-02, using only a single digit for the month, then from Feb 1 through Feb 9 are all palindrome dates. Before that I think the last one was 10/22/01.

If you write dates as they do in England where they list the day then the month, then a palindrome date won't occur until the 20th. (20/2/02) This date would truly be a palindrome date using full digits- 20/02/2002.
