I don't mean to condone any criminals. But I'm sure many of us think certain kinds criminals are quite impressive even though they have done dirty deeds; guys like Frank Abagnale, Jr is one example. Were any of you actually impressed by certain guys featured on UM? Here are a couple:

Kevin Poulsen: he's become a more modern version of Frank Abagnale but on the information super highway.
LA storm drain robbers: even though it's wrong to do such a thing, it still puts a smile on my face to think of a couple guys reading about their dirty deeds and admiring the stacks of cash in their home.

Someone like Frank Morris or DB Cooper each guy was impressive both were criminal masterminds

the Original Night Stalker/East Area rapist. Some people say the "plates on the male's chest" thing was clever. The fact he also was in the audience at the town meeting about the rapist/killer and ended up assaulting a couple he followed home from the meeting that night without being detected was also brazen. The fact he still hasn't been identified and caught is unbelievable as well.

This Guy was just downright scary! (Think messages on Answering Machines) The way he killed those innocent people in Southern California during Phase 2 of his Terror campaign is sick.

You know, I have to admit to having a weird admiration for the scam artist team of Lena Marie Wilson and Ann Correcelli. After convincing their victims they were cursed and that the only way to break it was to destroy all their money, they'd simply pocket the victim's money for themselves!

Scam artists are scumbags, yes, but it takes a special kind of skill to not simply steal your victim's money, but get them to a point where they willingly want to destroy their own money! I never try to judge victims of fraud, but when you're acting all indignant because these women pocketed $4000 which you were planning to THROW OFF A BRIDGE, it is a bit hard to feel sympathy.

I know Ann Correcelli was never caught, but I always wondered what kind of defense her attorney would have provided since she stole money that her victims technically didn't even want any more.

You beat me to both of them.

There was another guy, I can't remember his name, but he was a bank robber who did a number of things to avoid getting caught. He threw a rock through the window and waited to see if cops came. He super glued the alarms. He was never caught.

Wow, that's a hell of a point, and one I never thought of before. To expand on that, could it ever be proven that Ann really did pocket the money? I mean, unless there was videotape evidence or something, how would anyone know she really didn't throw the money into the water?

Yeah, the segment never makes it clear how these victims eventually found out they were duped since they wouldn't have actually seen the trickery. It seems like after they found out they had been dealing with con artists, they just came to the automatic assumption that their actual money had been taken. But like you said, I'm not sure how it could actually be proven.

I must admit that Patrick Michael "Paddy" Mitchell's story would make for a pretty good movie on Netflix. I mean, a bank robber who loved to cook?

I gotta go with Kevin Poulson/DarkDante just because he crashed the 1-800 line the night his story aired.

I mean, sure he was a black hat hacker, but points for style.

Heather Tallchief and Roberto Solis getting away with the Loomis armored van and $ 3 million in Las Vegas in 1993. That's Season 11, Episode 10.

Not only was it meticulously planned, but 30 years later, Solis is still free (he would be 77). And if Tallchief had not turned herself in in 2005 to serve a sentence, there's a decent chance she would have gotten away with it as well.

Don't you kinda think that anyone who got away with it.. That was rather impressive?

Who's the woman who killed someone via DUI and has since disappeared? Sorry.. You all know how bad I am with names.. It's impressive that she has been 'on the run' for what? 30+ years now?

We've talked about that one before and she's either dead and buried in a basement somewhere or living way off grid. And for the latter, she HAS to have someone hiding her.

But.. In todays world. Committing a crime and getting away with it.. That's just impressive. Even OJ! It's impressive.. Bad impressive, but.. Impressive nonetheless.

Gloria Schulze being on the run nearly 30 years later is not impressive. She's free today because her family has lots of money. Not only to buy her the best attorney who could delay any type of sentence for an entire year but to keep her hidden wherever they choose.

In addition, you have the state of Arizona giving next to no craps about any sort of punishment both before and after Shulze went into hiding. They allowed her to leave the state several times. They never once penalized her for the six required drug test dates that she missed. They never even suspended her driver's license despite KILLING another person while drunk. Finally issuing a warrant for her arrest almost seemed comical at that point given the entire year they spent ignoring her. Articles I read online never gave me the impression that much was done to find her. Getting the story on UM was work done on Angela's family's part, not by law enforcement. It's just really easy to stay hidden when nobody is making much of an effort to find you.
