I live in New York, but was born in raised in Los Angeles county California and I get to where i miss my home so bad that I long to see it. I found that on Google satellite street view, I can take a trip around my old stomping ground whenever I want. It is so cool and the best thing about it? Its FREE :) Does anyone here on Sitcoms ever do that? I know I am not the only one.
I've never used Google Maps but I may give it a try. I'd like to see where my grandmother lived when she retired to Florida. I think I still have her address somewhere.

I use google street view to check out cities I will be visiting on vacation from time to time. It's a really unique feature.

I'll use it just to go through some neighborhoods in Cleveland, good or bad.

I just checked out my home on Google Earth and it's there but what is appearing is my home in the springtime when the blossoms were on my shrubs and trees. Also we had our driveway repaved last month and the picture shows the driveway before it was redone. I thought that these pictures were live? What gives?

definitely not live - they have a car or a bicycle with a camera on top that has to actually drive up and down each street to create the street view map - they haven't even gone down my street yet, so it doesn't have a street view.
the satellite view isn't live either, but I do not know how often it is updated at each zoom level (probably not often though)

I haven't been back to my home town in about 25 years. Unfortunately, Google Street view has only gone down a couple of main roads in that town, but not the street I grew up on.
Google street view images can take quite a while to be updated. A google street view of a bank I used to work for here in my town still shows my car in the employee section of the parking lot, even though I last worked there about 4 years ago.
That google street view camera car is something else.
