1. They have a lot of fun episodes outside the house unlike AITF where most of the eps were in the Bunker House

2. It's not one-dimensional comedy like AITF since Edith and Archie had no friends

3. Doesn't really fall into the family comedy category like AITF

4. It's more than one funny character, on AITF it was mainly Archie

5. The adult daughter on the show was Normal unlike....Gloria Bunker

Enjoying the marathon but still wished it was on a saturday

Absolutely not! Maude was an okay show, but All in the Family is a classic and few shows can touch it.

1. They have a lot of fun episodes outside the house unlike AITF where most of the eps were in the Bunker House

I'm not sure what the setting has to do with anything. The beauty of All in the Family, like The Honeymooners, is that it was about the acting and the chemistry between the characters. They could stay in a single room for every episode and it would still be hilarious.

2. It's not one-dimensional comedy like AITF since Edith and Archie had no friends

Edith and Archie had no friends? Archie had Stretch Cunningham, Barney, the guys at the bar. Okay, he didn't have a lot of friends, but that was kind of the point. Edith had her friends, like the Louise Jeffersons and Irene. But the point of the show was the four people living in the house together and their interactions with one another. There wasn't a lot of room left for friends.

3. Doesn't really fall into the family comedy category like AITF

Okay, but I don't know how that makes it better. It's just a different focus.

4. It's more than one funny character, on AITF it was mainly Archie

Archie was hilarious, Edith was hilarious, Mike could be as well. Gloria had her moments. Louise and Lionel Jefferson were often very funny, as were Henry and George Jefferson. On Maude, Maude is funny, sometimes, and Florida and Mrs. Naugatuck were funny. I didn't find any of the other characters on the show all that funny. And the relationships and interactions were not as naturally funny as Archie and Edith and Archie and the Meathead.

5. The adult daughter on the show was Normal unlike....Gloria Bunker

Another characteristic that makes one show different than the other, but not necessarily better.

Enjoying the marathon but still wished it was on a saturday

Maude, I can take it or leave it. Sometimes it's a bit boring to me, but All in the Family is almost always satisfying and very funny.

Maude and her Husband just seemed more interested in leaving the house. It was nothing funny about mike or gloria. Edith had her funny moments and Louise and Lionel were seen ocassionally.

On Maude, you have Walter, Maude, Arthur, and Vivian. Then you had Florida in the early years. Mrs. Naugatuck was a old drunken fool and was not funny at all. Not sure why they added her to the show.

AITF doesn't have that many fun episodes like Maude which is why I can watch Maude over and over again in syndication.

Too many serious topics on AITF

IDK, Solomon. Maude had many serious topics as well. I do agree, however that this is a great show. I love Bea Arthur's acting range. There is one episode where its just one, big monologue with her talking to her therapist for the entire episode. Brilliant, if you ask me.

No episodes about Cancer or Unemployment. Aside from Walter's Alcohol problem and Maude's mood episode, the show was great. Antenna TV allowed me to see that:lol:
