Macy's Employee Retires After 73 Years
92-year-old is longest-serving employee in store's history

Rose Syracuse is retiring as the longest-serving employee in Macy's history.
The 92-year-old started working at Macy's in New York in 1939. “This was my first job and I didn’t go anyplace else,” Syracuse, told The Daily News. “I was happy here.” Syracuse worked behind the scenes at the flagship store, where she got her job after passing a math and typing test. She went on to work for decades in the store’s phone and mail order department, until the Internet made her job obsolete.

For the last three years she has worked on archival projects for the department that organizes the parade and other special events. A broken hip sustained in a fall months ago forced the brand's oldest employee into retirement. Despite no longer working at the store, she insists that she will always remain a customer.

Yes, I saw this story when it first came out as I live in NYC. Great story and what a nice lady. She should get an extra-big Macy's discount pass for her steadfast loyalty and hard work - for nearly three-quarters of a century!

:rotflmao: :rotflmao:I was wondering what you meant by that as well!

Anyway, that is so cool that this woman was able to work at the same company for so long! Just amazing and talk about dedication! I hope they give her a big send off! And yes, she deserves a big discount for the rest of her life!
